FREMANTLE coach Ross Lyon denies his club is in the market for Lance Franklin, claiming he's even told Hawthorn counterpart Alastair Clarkson not to worry about Freo poaching the star forward.

Franklin has put contract negotiations with Hawthorn on hold until the end of the season, sparking rumours that he is keen to test his value on the open market.

Fremantle have been heavily linked to the 26-year-old, while West Coast are another club rumoured to be in the frame, given Franklin's WA heritage and the fact he used to share a house with Eagle Sharrod Wellingham.

Lyon admitted Fremantle was in the hunt for Collingwood's Travis Cloke last year, but he said Franklin wasn't on the club's agenda.

"I went to a Coaches' Association sub-committee meeting, and Alastair Clarkson was there," Lyon said on Wednesday.

"I sought out Alastair, and I said to him, 'This is not us - just to let you know so you don't have to worry. It is not us'.
Have to laugh when you have a 'Buddy in Freos plans blah blah" article one minute, then the next you have the above. I still stand by my thought that he'll stay with us, but has been asked to put talks on hold so it'll leave speculatino open so they can keep publishing this nonsense. Probably a fairly hefty 3rd party deal from media outlets.

If it does take until October to sort out, this is going to be one gargantuan thread by the end of it. o_O

Something Derm said last year regarding Cloke really struck a chord with me....
......
But in the context of close games, that one or two percent could cost you. I've given it thought since I heard it, and wondered just how much it cost Collingwood last year. Overall, they were nowhere near the team they were in 2011. I wonder how much of that was upstairs. Would hate to see that happen to the Hawks... but I'll never really know if it has.

Last year, Cloke had his second best year goal kicking wise. They lost 7 games, three against us and two against Carton. At Round 14 they were 11 wins, 2 losses. Where was the Cloke affect?

Their exciting game plan of hugging the boundary has been worked out. Cloke's contract was a really good smoke screen to hide the pies flaws. Pies finished 4th. Reckon that was about right. This notion that they under achieved and Cloke struggled only falls down when you examine what actually took place.

I heard Ross Lyon on the news at 4pm today, he said he called Clarko today and told him it was definitely not Freo the club that was talked about in the paper today.. That twit should be sued for the rubbish he printed today in the media..What a donkey:mad:

This will feature on CH10 at 5.40 as well with Quarters.

It's seriously driving me crazy that other teams, officials, etc. are allowed to tamper with players under contract. It's my least favorite part of following soccer. This kind of shit is just not allowed in the US. If you're going to have free-agency, there has to be a strict no-tampering policy. That doesn't just mean that clubs can't negotiate with agents of players until the free agency period begins. It also means that people employed by other clubs can't discuss the contract status, any offer they'd make, etc., etc. of that player. Period.

Jon Ralph has a stupid, stupid article that uses Ross Lyon's quotes from February about how he'd spend $1.5m on Buddy as a hook. That would bring a six figure fine from the league office in the NBA, NFL, MLB, etc.

I wonder whether Ralph meant as a HOOKER...oops:D

Hmmm. Could be onto something there LMH. I mean, there's a lot more money to be made off the back of a brothel than in gambling. I'm suggesting we could turn Buddy into our very own Pokie machine, and pimp out his wares. Of course we could vet his clients for him, make sure they are up to scratch, and if they're well fit and all (and are willing Hawks ladies!) we could offer full stud services, with the proviso, we can claim them in the father son when they're ready. (And as if their mothers would ever let em play anywhere else anyhow!).
Lucrative income for Buddy that could be kept under the table, a slice for the club, and he could better manage his 'jobs' and schedule these performances around his on field ones. Legend says he managed the 100 babes and 100 goals in 2008, so why not return him to that fertile environment. He'd be a lay down for the Coleman.

Who at the club should I email this suggestion to?

I like this guy's command of the English language...

Particularly this stand-alone statement.

An existence into time after his dominance in the game is a given.

Sounds like a cryptic crossword clue.

And this conclusion..WTF???

GWS, as Sheedy so pointedly alluded toward, has significant scope in their expansion salary allowances to offer the brilliant Franklin substantially excessive ambassadorial funding left with the failed exercise with rugby convert, Israel Folau.

Kim Hagdorn wouldn't have the faintest clue anyway. How would he know what's going on?

"He is understood to have already told Hawks powerbrokers to prepare for his departure." Hagdorn said.

Doubt he has done that at all.

Heading down for the weekend and sort of feel conflicted about watching him kick goals(or behinds)....really not impressed by all this, it surely has something to do with his douche bag rugby union and rugby league mates.

Reminds me of when I used to use babblefish to translate my German homework at highschool.

Driving at about 3.05 pm this afternoon in Perth WA. 27-3-2013, AND THE NEWS BRINGS UP A STORY. IN THE BREAK BETWEEN THE GAMES IN THE FIRST ROUND OF THE REAL SEASON.
What is sport news during the bulletin here in Perth. Lyon says Fremantle not interested in Franklin. Next it'll be Eagles then it'll be GWS. Not interseted they really think the listeners and fans are stupid . Everyone's interested , but its not about that is it>?

See this is what will happen all year Hawks , all bloody year.

The key words, that gives this pale imitation of a journalist an escape hatch in his relentless pursuit to dress pure conjecture up as possible fact, are 'he is understood'.

Oh yes, understood from where? The magic cue ball, perhaps. A guy in a pub who knows a bloke who 'always has the info'.

It's just more of the usual gossip Hagdorn dresses up as journalism.
