Getting a Ben McKay on a decent sized contract is a great get if he stays healthy. He'd only clog their list if he can't stay on the park.

Quality KPPs get paid well and usually have a high cost. The fact that they got him without using a draft pick is a big win.

Compare this to our acquisition of Williams for example.

IMO Williams was way more accomplished when we got him than McKay currently is. I don’t watch North very often and he’s been out the last few times we have played North, but of what I’ve seen of him I’m not sure there’s any way of justifying the contract Essendon just offered him.

Indeed the only thing that’s more absurd than the contract they offered is the compensation North are receiving for him. If I were a list manager I wouldn’t offer him anymore than $500k for 3-4 seasons, and if I had to trade him I’d only be willing to give up a pick in the vicinity of 20-25 for him.

Anyway as I said I’m glad that he’s not our problem.

We need to bring in some talent. Pies impoved their list after losing the prelim last year and went and got a flag. I can't see how we can just say we are happy with natural improvement. Collingwood getting Schultz is huge.

We should probably go after Ginnivan he could be a very good player.

Edit williams coming back will be huge for us hopefully

Hopefully is correct.

So far we’ve gotten 23 games in 3 seasons out of him. Has looked unfit for the majority of his playing time and now has an ACL injury under his belt.

Will most likely fight it out with Cincotta for the 7th defender spot.

I'm hoping he comes back super fit and plays rotations through the half forward line / midfield

So two of 40 odd players on the list? Cool. Good skills and speed not needed. My bad.
He plays the same spot as them. Add Cowan, Docherty , Newman, and Williams to Saad and Boyd and we have half back flank well covered.

Doesn't make sense to me to use draft capital and salary cap space to get another one.

Austin may see it differently.

Not my point at all and respectfully disagree.

Norf have just received a plethora of draft concessions.
3 x 1st Rnd picks over the next 2 years and 2 additional rookie spots for next year.

Now they will receive pick 3 compo for McKay who has only played 71 games since 2017.

So wrong!

Oh BTW when we were a struggling down the bottom, what did we get - access to ******* State Leagues.

& didn’t Norf play finals in 2018? Pox list management being rewarded by the 🤡’s at AFL HQ

This is right in theory but our back flankers are all a little different. Dochs a mid masquerading as a defender, Newman and Boyd aren’t particularly quick in terms of leg speed so that leaves Williams and Saad as our ball carrying back flankers and they aren’t exactly spring chickens. I wouldn’t mind adding one more to the mix. I don’t think it’s something that’s in need of urgent attention but having one under those two in particular would be very beneficial to their development.

I forgot Cincotta as well. You could also Marchbank into the mix although he plays a bit taller. We definitely don't have a shortage of half backs and there's a fair bit of quality there.

It's all subjective though. I think that we have other higher priority areas of need. Sadly Sinn is also young enough (2 years in the system only) that Port would like a reasonable return on their pick 12.

Was a mad carlton supporter though.

We should look to bolster our midfield soon. No idea why but I can really see Sheezel playing for us one day. Won’t be this year but can see it happening eventually.
Plenty on the Suns board think that E. Hollands is a genuine on baller who can't get a look in there. O. Hollands could graduate there as well.

Ben Campo looks like a genuine inside/outside mid and may be real quality. Lucas Campo looks more outside but could still be anything.

The beauty of the father sons is that allows us to plan our drafting well in advance.

Yeap, even if it's only the Campo boys, we don't need more mids, we need spark on the fringes, a dynamic 3rd/medium forward and a young KPD

Yep, exactly. There’s definitely other higher priority areas of need. Need to find a genuine forward half threat and ideally another mid to keep everyone honest, imo.

Wouldn't mind us trialling TDK & H as our key fwds with Charlie as the dynamic 3rd/medium. He could be a nightmare to match up in that role. Just needs TDK to take that extra step with his forward work. Would still look to recruit a young player with those attributes though.

Start of 2025 core mid group if goes to plan:
Walsh (24), Cerra (25), Kennedy (27), B. Camporeale (18), L. Camporeale (18), O. Hollands (21), E. Hollands (22), Binns (20), De Koning (25)

Cripps (30), Docherty (31), Acres (29), Hewett (29) as the older seasoned brigade.

That looks tasty.

Tdk #1 ruck
Hawkins stay at home full forward
Harry forward/2nd ruc
Charlie 3rd forward

Think we’ll get very little for Dow. Saints have too many other things going on.

What about Dow and 69 for Billings and 55?

Saints and Billings said to be happy to move on from each other, and for cheap. Top 5 pick for Top 5 pick and we get a slight upgrade coz ours is younger? Just spitballing. Never know what Billings could bring in the forward line.
