Not surprised he has requested a trade to Norf...

Doesn't want to work hard and earn a spot in the team (which he def has the talent to), wants more game time handed to him along with a bigger paycheck.

Club is finally moving in the right direction, looking to be a contender next year... he's contracted, all he had to do is roll the sleeves up and could have found himself playing in big finals, even a premiership...

I felt the same way about Shaun Grigg:oops:

Fish gone I must admit liked him early thought he could be that small forward that kicks 30-40 goals but unfortunately has a few flaws and fell in the pecking order.

Thanks Fish and good luck with your career at North.

#1 fish was never a small forward. He is never kicking 30-40 goals a year.

What he is, is a mid. He is good in traffic, quick in tight and has good skills. This is offset by his size and strength.

Sticky updated. Only one player uncontracted (Dow). Two available list spots.
If Dow can't agree terms with other clubs, I am not adverse to giving him a new contract. He actually fills a need for us in burst from the stoppages. Has a sublime sidestep that gets him out of reach of players trying to get him and can hit a target with a handball while under pressure. I'm surprised that Voss didn't use him more instead of going with a bunch of one pace mids like Kennedy and Hewett.

I think it was his manager yesterday suggesting he wanted more midfield time, which I found funny.

Wasn’t there speculation that Fish was whinging when played as a small forward under Teague?

* really desperate to top up their way out of 7000+. Dodo sitting there wanting every bloody player available.. at least he’s using his last hurrah to inflict another few years of damage.

This latest “trade week triumph” will see them anchored smack bang in the middle of no man’s land.
It’s a masterpiece 🤣🤣

i'm feeling more than a little sad that Paddy Dow is on the way out - even more so than losing (#13's Yarran and Stocker - my favourite number)
We missed him in the Prelim - and couldn't buy a clearance at one point - is a heart and soul player who seems to loves the blues..
This just feels wrong, we don't have another player quite like Paddy and to top it off, to join the saints. :(

I remember a friend of mine who was friends with Gregg at the time making comments that, Ratten didn’t like Grigg and had told him that he didn’t see him getting games.

This was passed on by Grigg.

Fair call by Ratts... he wasn't getting games ahead of Kruze, Hammer and Warnock

What's so harsh about it?

He's obviously not chasing success.
Maybe it was the club who suggested he should look elsewhere?
And it's not a workrate or desire issue, but that there just wasn't going to be opportunity with us?

And sure, North are terrible at the moment. But they've got a stack of young talent, a stack of picks, and Clarkson as coach. Add to that, they actually want him, and are proving that with a big contract offer.

What do you suppose he should be doing?

Clubs have honest conversations with players

Suspect that Fish was told that after the likes of Weitering, Marchbank/Kemp, Gov, there are 4 spots available in the backline each week

Newman, Williams, Saad, Boyd

Next in line in order, Cincotta, Fisher, Cowan developing

So, at the moment he would be considered depth but the club understands if he wants to pursue further opportunities elsewhere

Win/win for club and player

Absolutely - I'm sure that would be the kind of conversation that would've been had. I reckon it was also the type of thing that was said to Casboult (who I still miss!).

It's also probably what's been said to Dow. I think so much of the conversation around Dow on here is whether the club should have that attitude towards Dow. In other words, that we have underestimated Dow's value, and should be seeing him as more than depth.

I think this is a pretty harsh take, especially from outside the club.
Astute decision to move to North, Clarkson will maximize Zac’s potential, he’ll be more than serviceable, a reasonable contributor to his new team.
A pity we had to let him go, obviously Vossy wasn’t interested the situation was just untenable and unfair to Fisher.

Dow, Fisher are depth, but we have somewhat similar types or players to play their role on the list or targets via a trade/draft

Fisher - Cincotta, Cowan, Doc

Dow - Cripps, Cerra, Walsh, Hewett, Kennedy, Doc, O Hollands, Cuners, E Hollands, most with more versatility

Fisher and Dow aren't indispensable

Not sure how it was Vossy's fault?
Seems like a list management and player wanting more game time decision...

Fish might have just found his best position as a small defender, which is an area we are stacked in...

He had been given opportunity and could have solidified a position as a small forward,
had all the tools to excel there, must not of wanted it enough...
