SOS was my favourite player growing up.

If what is in the media is true and he wouldn’t even go into the rooms for Jacks milestone game and is holding such a grudge as to be Dodo-like in trading with us for Dow…. Then he is wiped in my books as a champion of the club.

Seriously, if true - what an absolute w***er.

He's a very bitter and petty man by all reports.

I've futzed around with the formatting of the stickied post. Think it's easier to read using spoiler formatting than the previously used quote formatting.

Swans just doing what needs to be done and going about their business.

Grundy/Jordon/Hamling/Adam’s,whilst not huge names just adding depth to their list.

On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app
Adams disgruntled with Collingwood for giving him a hamstring injury.

Hollands plays as a HF, rotating through the middle, but let's leave that to one side

Ollie Holands, Acres, Cotts rotations on a wing

Cripps, Cerra, Walsh as starting mids

2 of these mids as interchange, 1 misses out, Doc, Hewett, Kennedy

Williams could play through the middle, rotations Cuners, Fog

Dow is depth, he has an offer to stay, it's up to him
The point of my post was list depth for 2024 and beyond - our 'best 22' is fine but as everyone is well aware, we seldom manage to have a best 22 available (finals this year is possibly the only time its occured in the past 3-5 years - and even then williams wasnt available and a few were heavily injury impacted).

This offseason we are likely to lose/have lost - obrien (depth), dow (depth), fisher (depth), curnow (depth), philp (early draft pick that never made it)

From your list, lets say Kennedy misses out (and is a depth player for 2024) - who are the other mids that we have on the list? - atm that would be Binns and potentially Carroll. The only known target at this stage is E. Hollands (potential but unproven but would be physically developed at least) - Notwithstanding most kids take some time to develop, we also have pick 16 to potentially add another mid (but no 2nd or 3rd round picks).

Real list depth through the midfield is very thin - Yes we could rotate cuningham through but he is unproven/injury prone, Similarly williams - unproven as a mid and coming back from a long term injury. Rotation also carries the risk of disrupting the team if they dont perform to the level and the replacement is results in a significant drop off in another area of the ground.

I'll wait for the trade period to play out but if we lose dow/fisher and dont bring in another mature bodied mid (Duursma, someone else) - if we cant bring a mature bodied mid in, then I'd very much prefer the club either hold Fisher to his contract, or increase their offer to keep down. If not, then my concern is we will be carrying a significant risk of underperforming into the 24/25 season when the inevitable injuries strike (missing top 4, potentially even finals)

Collingwood can confirm Taylor Adams has requested a trade to the Sydney Swans in the upcoming Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period.

Taylor is contracted until the end of 2024 and is a required player and leader.
The Club will discuss the request with Sydney.

Not many, if any side that has quality depth, they are purely role players

You can achieve that with older DFA, or younger types like O Hollands

Any list manager worth their job would be offering a fourth rounder/small pick upgrade for Dow as a starting point.
Unfortunately that’s close to his market value.
SOS is no different - it’s a nice taking point but his disappointment at his exit from Carlton won’t have an influence on the ultimate outcome.

North offering pick 42 for Fisher. Carlton expected to push for more.
- Cal Twomey + Riley Beveridge AFL app

NORTH Melbourne has put pick 42 on the table for Carlton's Zac Fisher as the Roos look to land the versatile Blue.
Fisher last week underwent a medical with North before officially requesting a trade to the Kangaroos from Carlton, where he has two years to run on his deal.

The start of the trade discussions has seen the Roos put forward their third-round pick for the 25-year-old, who has played 107 games for the Blues since being drafted in 2016.

Sos will always be recognised as a champion of our club as a player but his being a disagreeable and grumpy bugger is nothing new. Just look at two of his best mates...Dodoro and Lyon, birds of a feather and all that.

Holding a grudge is like consuming poison and expecting the other person to get sick... Good luck to him!

I think the only genuine decrease in midfield depth is Dow.
Ed was past it this year.
LOB played a total of 6 games, 3 or 4 as sub, and by round 1 next year will have been well and truely over-taken by Binns.
Fisher is over-taken by Williams. Philp has given us nothing as a Senior Player.

The thing is, the system means that you can't hold players like Dow. It's the way that salary cap and restricted list numbers and opportunity work. Hopefully Carroll and Binns and both Hollands can cover whatever we miss with Dow.
I would prefer that we could keep him, but I'm also not really concerned.

42 ++ with compo picks is a joke for Fish. We should engineer straight swap for EH at the least. If he's getting 4/5 years and solid coin, after 107 games and still young, I'd want their future end of first compo with something back their way. Play hard ball or keep Slip.

Fair chance NM end up with 34 back from WCE if they trade up to #1. No hurry to get it done.
