De Mattia seems a very likely candidate for Pick 21. Quick, skilled, versatile, leadership creds. Plug him in as a pressure forward, build towards midfield rotations, if that doesn't work out can always swing him to half back.

Pick 25 could be anyone.

Could play it safe with a meat & potatoes midfielder in George Stevens or Charlie Edwards.

Logan Morris appeals to me as a genuine goal-kicking third tall forward, something I still don't think we really have on the list.

Tew Jiath could be worth a look as future planning for Gov and Marchy falling to pieces. Luamon Lual could be seen as a successor to Saad in a few years.

Depending on Mirkov's recovery prospects we may look at a ruck like Mitch Edwards, or forward/ruck like Archer Reid.

Archie Roberts looks like the type of player we love, but with our existing profile and the upcoming Campo's I can't help but feel he just disappears into a logjam of half back/wing types.

If we get the player we want at 21 I could definitely see us taking a bit more of a risk at 25. Lance Collard the obvious one. Arie Schoenmaker doesn't appeal to me on what I've seen but I wouldn't dismiss the selection if we're taking him in addition to someone else. Both seem to have big upside but significant risk.

De Mattia + one of Morris, Jiath or Collard is where I'd lean.

Forward half players seem the best bet given we'll likely want to make room in the backline for the Irish boys early on. No point recruiting 3 rebounding defenders and then having to shoehorn one or two into different roles.

I’d really hate to be an aints or bombers supporter.Just the sheer ego of both list managers to who has the bigger d… is so just annoying. That d…….d Dodo who’s been there for so long and delivered sweet FA with that list and Sos who thinks the sun shines out of his a…

God they s… me.

I’m really surprised by some comments towrsds SOS. I would have thought by now, everyone would be aware that:
1. SOS is fair (a bit too fair) with his dealings
2. He does not rush into his trades until everything is lined up.
I guess people really do have small memories or say what pleases them at the time.
just shocked.

I recon we can get two really good prospects with 21 and 25, i actually dont think we need to trade up id be keeping the picks
I recon we can get Hollands with a future pick

I hope we just trade our pick 25 and Future second for Hollands and 27.
Then take our picks to the draft.

Pick 8 would cost us a minimum imo of three decent picks, I’d prefer we just backed in Austin with our two picks in the 20’s and have our first rounder up our sleeves to trade next year for a player who might be the missing piece to a premiership.

So we had a proven, contracted, 25 year old in Fisher. We had to step back our first round pick despite North having an arsenal of draft picks and Carlton supporters were celebrating this?

Hollands is an unproven, contracted, 21 year old who has played 14 games in 3 years and you're proposing we step back our 2nd rounder and cough up another 2nd as well?

All the while, it's basically accepted we are going to get a packet of twisties for Dow.

I don't understand the logic. We just have to pay up / cop it every time, no matter the circumstances? Hollands has a couple of question marks on him already; if we can't get him for Acres or Dow type deals, I wouldn't be upset at letting him play in the sun for another year and reassessing.

The grass is always greener on the other side isn’t it.

We got Acres for less than Young/received for Samo. Think it’s currently about pick 59.

Fisher, despite being contracted and offered an extension at his destination, just isn’t worth all that much.

Dow’s an out of contract pure inside mid. Unfortunately in the current marketplace that’s also not highly valued, teams are leaning towards maybe 2 inside mids combining them with more runners and ball users.

We’ll take what we can get, probably not 100% best value, feels like Austin would rather get ‘close enough’ and knock it off early, leaving more time and resources in case some favourable opportunities arise later in the period.

It’s certainly a less stressful process to watch from the outside than previous regimes.

What exactly has Fisher proven, other than that he simply could not be carried into the pressure of finals?

Nothing footballer.

Our second wouldn’t change as those picks before 27 are GC’s and will just be used for matching bids. It just gives them a few extra points.
Well our club obviously want Hollands more then we do Fisher so to us Hollands is worth more.
A future second for Hollands is great value imo and I don’t rate him that highly. It’s a low risk high reward type trade. Acres and Dow type trades are the same as SPS trades. Some work some don’t, Hollands still gets extra value because he is younger and more chance to realise his potential

What Fisher has proven, especially this year with our relentless pressure is that he is not fit for it. He is conditional and unaccountable. His good can be very good, his consistent output is not there. We have spent years getting away from these sort of players we are now finally in a position to really add layers to the list and people are complaining about the 'deal'
He was not starting 22 and depth. We got Acres for a 3rd or 4th rounder. In terms of value how would you rate Fisher in relation to Acres given output.

Hey guys, does anyone know if Rayner has re-signed with brisbane yet..? Can’t find it anywhere and I’m lead to believe he’s OOC this year..

Too long til draft night…who will it be?
Pick 21 Harry DeMattia. A speedy two way inside mid that can also play forward and back. High pressure player who hard working and a strong leader. 100% Voss's type.
Pick 25 Arie Schoenberg. 194cm Tall defender. One of the best and longest kicks in the draft. Played last year with Cowan and is a blues supporter. Could be the next "Woof"

Others- WA NGA pair Mitch Edwards modern day ruckman and Lance Collard small forward with a massive highlight reel. Or SA forwards Jack Delean and Ashton Moir. Both are creative small forwards.

I tend to agree with you on Fisher. It is not a big issue though - just a view Carlton just do end up on slightly the wrong side of players leaving our club and pick value. The fact that we were on the right side of Acres/Martin isnt really relevant.

Carlton do seem to miss a trick on getting the best value out of unwanted players (Dow/Stocker/Fisher/Setters).

Last year was Fisher's best year and his upside was growing where he belonged at AFL level. Fast forward to this year and the wheels fell off for the entire team in the first half of the season. Half forwards need supply and Fisher like Motlop and Silvagni were scapegoats of that bad form when it was really the midfield / midfield defensive actions that needed attention. Only Curnow as a forward survived criticism because he is a freak. P

Fast forward to the second half of the year and the disaster that was supposedly Motlop and Silvagni were completely different animals. Fisher never got the chance to even rectify what was a midfield /defensive running problem earlier in the year. Starved of possession with down the line high balls to packs of ten+ over and over again. Braindead footy given no small/medium fwd a chance. Martin found that out when we played Brisbane and went back to high balls to huge packs down the line. And on JSoS, people wanted JSoS delisted until the midfield rectified and in that improved performance JSoS played unbelievably well.

I think this leaves North picking up a player on the precipice that we have wasted away, not used correctly, not given chance of redemption like JSoS/Motlop got and that ultimately costs us value in rating Fisher 20 instead of 30...particularly a contracted player. Basically everyone and sundry knows Carlton didnt rate him so no way they are paying anything of true value. The very same thing playing out with Dow. Carlton have advertised globally that Dow is a useless spud who they refused to play until ground Zero armageddon and nothing to lose in the season. Dow def offers enough over a random pick 35 in the draft given that number's history but Carlton will be lucky to snare a slap in the face from St Kilda.

THe management of the player's image, and rating of the player by the public needs to be managed better by Carlton.

I'm waffling a bit and only believe in this to an extent. Mostly based on the departing player's quality...

Reason our form turned around was because Fogarty Martin and Cuningham came in and had an immense impact on our forward half pressure. Fisher is a weak defensive player and will not be missed.

It's worth saying that Clarko doesnt see what you see. I doubt Clarko looks for any weak/soft/poor players in any context and on top of that, who are in contract.

think we can refrain from clipping carlton players on the way out? gutless as..............
