think we can refrain from clipping carlton players on the way out? gutless as..............

Yeah the Fisher bashing is weird. Gave us 7 years and over 100 games, a massive part of our now great culture.

He didn't really do anything wrong in the end, just went through some very poor form as we saw a lot of improvement and fell out of favour. I'm glad he has set himself up long term with his new deal and hopefully he can play some good footy.

I really wanna hammer the crap out of north each and every time we meet them in future - as for fish, he's just another opposition player
Hell yeah

Gutless... lol.

Fisher's been one of my favourite players since his debut, a very smart footballer with lovely skills but ultimately he wasn't very good defensively and that's why he was replaced by options who better fit our needs in that half forward role.

Had similar thoughts on Levi when we let him go. Loved what he did for the club in a tough time, I even have a signed guernsey from The Big Tofu... End of the day we wanted to make space for Harry and Charlie to become our two spearheads and it meant he was pushed out due to his limitations as a footballer.

If stating that is 'clipping a player on their way out' call me gutless all you want. Imo it's the equivalent of calling water wet. The club could have easily held on to Fisher if we wanted but clearly we saw him as replaceable and were happy to let him seek better opportunities for himself.

Rayner has been going to explode for the past 4 seasons. We are still waiting...

On a related point about Rayner not exploding yet, we have been fortunate that the two seasons we did have pick 1 in the last 15 years we had the two best number one draft picks in the last 15 years

Pretty sure every other club would agree that Walsh and Weitering have been better than the others - Watts, Scully, Swallow, Patton, Whitfield, Boyd, McCartin, McGrath, Rayner, Rowell, Ugle-Hagan, Horne-Francis and Cadman. May be too early on some of the recent ones but we did avoid some less than stellar ones around the Walsh and Weitering years.

I’d really hate to be an aints or bombers supporter.Just the sheer ego of both list managers to who has the bigger d… is so just annoying. That d…….d Dodo who’s been there for so long and delivered sweet FA with that list and Sos who thinks the sun shines out of his a…

God they s… me.

Nobody has had a bigger impact on Carlton than SOS in the last 30 years. Transformed a short-sighted glorified VFL shambles into a serious AFL club. In other words we'd still be in Essendon's position without him.

So the main difference between SOS and dodo is that the sun does really shine out his ass.

I have seen a few time here that the Cats are interested in future picks. Is anyone able to explain why they are wanting to trade out Pick 8 this year for picks next year?
I think part of the reason is they may judge that there’s an obvious group of 7 likely to go before that pick and that that pick is the start of the next group.

Not my view. Just one shared with me by someone with much better insight than I.

One doesn't just ask...
It's a process.
There have to be outrageously cryptic pictures. Followed by legendary arguments about those pictures or clues... like after an epic fail by one team at a pictionary night.😛

I fully agree with your assessment. The only thing I will say is that we were due some luck, because Murphy, Gibbs and Kreuzer were not the best in their draft class. And that’s not knocking them (in particular, Kreuzer’s injuries held him back). But it’s nice to have two players who are very much in the conversation as to whether they are the best in their draft class.

Carlton do seem to miss a trick on getting the best value out of unwanted players (Dow/Stocker/Fisher/Setters).

Why do you think players we don't want and can't get near our best 22 have more value than we are getting? Fish is gone for effectively pick 31, which is bordering on overs.

Setterfield walked to Essendon, played four good games then got injured. Ended with 10 games averaging 20 touches. Pretty much what caused us to not want him in the firs place.

Stocker hasn't done much at St K, and was relegated to sub late in the year.

Dow is struggled to make an impact in 7 years at Carlton. What club would be willing to pay real currency for what would be a speculative pick on their behalf?

It's rare, normally impossible that you will pick the best player in the land with pick 1, let alone picking the best player still available at any other pick

Any recruiter that does that over their tenure would be the highest paid staff member at their club
It’s a fair point, Arr0w. My original post might have been better phrased that it’s great to get a bit of luck in the Walsh and Weitering drafts. There aren’t many number one picks in the post-Riewoldt period who are even in the conversation about being best player in their draft. To have two of them, is definitely a good break.

A few people confident we will have a deal for Hollands by Monday. Both clubs happy to deal

I hope so. I rate the kid and think he will thrive under Voss

As a junior he is exactly what we need. High impact half forward that can take a mark and hit the scoreboard.

Not sure why Goldcoast stuck him on a wing personally. But like him a lot.

Yep. I think he can become that HF with midfield minutes we need. Talk is rehab on knee was handled poorly. We apparently did medical on knee and believe it needs to be strengthed more. Bit like Docherty, Williams have done though some US knee guru.

If he comes to us he will most likely spend some time in rehab getting this right.

Mm. That's why we should aim to get Harley at pick 21...

What day are we thinking we're all talking double Dutch?
Shouldn't be too far off given our recent double shot of Irish...
