The Hamling TBA is what is most baffling. Why haven’t they just ruled him out out the season?
And piss poor no matter how you look at it.
A) they don’t know how long recovery will be... terrible
B) they don’t want to be honest and tell us... poor

very disappointed with how we are handling this.

Everyone and their mother knows that Hamling won't be back this season, yet the club are too scared to just come out and say it. They've lied about Sturt being 1-2 weeks away when Weber has said that he's still a few more weeks away, Hogan's been out longer than they predicted, nearly half of our best 22 is on the sidelines. It's just unacceptable from a professional football club to be in such disarray with their injuries, and it's been the same thing for 5 years, come the off-season Bell and Garlick would be wanting to wipe the S&C team clean and pick up some proper elite medics who are actually going to look after the club's players rather than just piss around and dance around the reality every week.

What’s funny is Sturt’s first ankle was 3-5 weeks, then became a test - and he played the next week. And his next ankle is 1-2 weeks, for a month.

It’s hard not to conclude that they don’t know what they’re doing. Since they always defer to taking a specialists advice, maybe it’s time to find a new specialist.

Maybe you need to lower your expectations/ understand a bit better that injury recover times are a prediction. You're asking them to be flawless predictors. They're human.

This goes for the thread in general, recovery times are like any other prediction, an inexact science. You guys would fire the weatherman for being wrong a week ahead the way you all crap on. Guess what, guys can go from 0 - 80% fitness in no time at all, but take a long time to get that last bit of fitness back. Stop demanding perfection where it cannot be achieved.

The season will be over in about 7-8 weeks. If hamlings injury is not going to be healed in 8 weeks then he’s out for the season. It’s as simple as that.
So just say he’s out for the season and quit the smoke and mirrors. TBA or TBC should only be used if there is a chance the player will play in the next 8 weeks.
Do you think there’s even the tiniest chance hamling will play in the next 8 weeks??
No, me neither.

So I think the fans would appreciate it if the club said he’s out for the season. Be upfront with the members and stop treating them like idiots.

Well, they've not been shy with ruling other players out for the season, so why not Hamling? Perhaps there is the tiniest sliver of a chance that maybe he might just make it back perhaps.

You're right, recovery times are hard to predict. A hamstring is usually a 2 week injury and it can be hard to predict that Webber plays them after 1 and it turns it into a 4 week injury.

It would be the head physio who cleared him to play. He gets off pretty lightly on here compared to Weber.

I thought JL’s comments today were very interesting. Says part of the injury problem is in the way the players prepare. Maybe a veiled dig at Fyfe for going surfing during a one week hammy rehab?
More than likely having a dig at the Dixon's/Cox's/Blakely's of the world rather than El-Capitano... From what I've read he's more than diligent enough with how he prepares.
Also, you can't really 'prepare' for smashed bones like old chalky bones Pearce and mangled ankles like Hamling/Sturt etc, or Turf Toe like Logue... Atleast those 4 are injuries that I really don't think you can plan for/prevent just off the top of my head. The rest... Not sure how much of it comes down to fitness/shorter breaks etc as I'm certainly no expert.

What injuries has Blakely had this year?

I really don't get why Blakely gets all this criticism. He was a pretty decent footballer in his first few years and I remember when he was coming back from injury it was like the second coming of Barlow.

Think when it comes to recovery times, the club doctor has a bit to answer for. We've always had weird issues with recovery times and bringing back players too early has ruined careers. Allan was rushed back when there was the chance of finals in 97, Clem Michael was played into the ground, McPharlin was constantly in and out early in his career due to poor management of osteo pubis.

He’s an easy target for those that want to try and score cheap points on Bigfooty

I mean if the issue is his disposal then I think there's plenty who have to answer for it as well. But then his disposal always seemed fine to me and his decision making was always pretty solid. And if its down to Langdon, my god that guy couldn't hit a target.

Judging by his first couple of years he's wasting what should have been a good career.
