Judging by his first couple of years he's wasting what should have been a good career.

If that's the case then maybe the Walter's treatment could see a turn around. Obviously difficult in these modern times, but maybe being left out for the last 8 games has been an eye opener and he'll start fulfilling his potential.

It's a pity they can't send him back to Swans.

I thought JL’s comments today were very interesting. Says part of the injury problem is in the way the players prepare. Maybe a veiled dig at Fyfe for going surfing during a one week hammy rehab?
A clear reference to Tucker I reckon. He was likely not warmed up properly. A preparation failure by him, the medicos or both.
Out for the season because of it. That's frustrating and I'm sure Jlo is pulling his hair out over such fundamental failures.

I love how Perth Now are saying we have about 1/3 of the best team out. Apparently we have teams of 27 now. We have 9 best 22 out not including Fyfe who should play this week. Way to undersell it

Then I'm curious why didn't every player that did the exact same team warm up of at least 30 minutes pull their hamstrings in the first 90 seconds of the game??

Had he been playing with injury "niggles" over the previous to weeks?

Was that why he was taken out of the middle and managed in the forward line in those two weeks?

Fundamental failures are there but you can't blame this on him failing to warm up when he did.

I agree he was definitely compromised

I really don't get why Blakely gets all this criticism. He was a pretty decent footballer in his first few years and I remember when he was coming back from injury it was like the second coming of Barlow.

Think when it comes to recovery times, the club doctor has a bit to answer for. We've always had weird issues with recovery times and bringing back players too early has ruined careers. Allan was rushed back when there was the chance of finals in 97, Clem Michael was played into the ground, McPharlin was constantly in and out early in his career due to poor management of osteo pubis.

Nope, gunna have to pull you up on the McPharlin comment. McPharlin partially came to Freo because he already had career threatening OP And didn’t like the way it was being handled at Hawthorn. It has always been the Freo medical team that he has praised for saving his career.
I am in no way advocating on the behalf of our S&C team but this was just wrong.

This is correct. I remember McPharlin saying the Hawks wanted to operate and Boyle(?) said we can fix you without it. Definitely played a part in him returning to WA.

Weber stated that Tucker was pushed, which caused the tendon damage.

The push from the Geelong player certainly contributed to Tucker over extending that leg, unless Tucker was not prepared correctly for that by either the S & C team, his own warm up or just an unlucky circumstance, is not something we'll ever know.

Yep, first time he or anyone else in the team has been pushed this year. Very unlucky

Yes you make a good point. That might be more the reason behind it.

Still, JLo was aiming that comment somewhere.

I think he was doing the opposite actually. Trying to take the aim off the S&C/medical and spread it among everyone including the players.
Interesting idea.

But why would he want to protect them? Surely he knows he can't get a decent run at coaching unless he has the players fit and available. His job will be on the line eventually.

He probably wants a review and clearout as much as us. He would know how our last 4 years have gone injury wise. And no improvement. Actually it's worse.

Because he wants to have a harmonious work environment/good culture around the club which can't happen if you are shitting on any department and singling them out. We would turn to rabble and our culture would be shot if he did.
