Carlton peeps, come on, no one on here wants your advice, stay out

Edit: holy **** Carlton people, how can you think anyone here wants your input on umpires or anything to do with the game. Stay out or get pointed

Would have been prepared to acknowledge they had a bit more composure at the end of it, but those last calls basically nullify all of that.

Think we can hold our heads up pretty high: Sharp and the defenders immense, belted them out of the middle for most of the afternoon.

Hopefully we can use that to galvanise the group for the rest of the year.
Sharp proved very clean in most things he did out there today. We needed more of that. So many fumbles and showing the ball too much to the opposition. Particularly by the smaller crew where clean hands should be their bread and butter.

The last few minutes in the contests we were out muscled , had the C*tank player in a tackle and still allowed him to get the ball out.

Why did Jackson knock the tap back into the middle and to space???????

THATS WHY Darcy plays as our ruck. He’d just body up and keep the tap in close and create more scrums.

I have no idea why Jackson not only hit it to space but through the middle?

Watching the replay he actually angled his run up and everything to go through the middle.

How can we have spares back but not in space???

What the **** were we doing.

Alright umpiring aside, we should have put that game away. There were some real positives in this game and we have plenty to get excited about as Freo fans. If we want to do some damage this season we need to work on the following:
  • Amiss down on form- 1 kick in the second half and has kicked 1.3 from set shots in the last 3 weeks. He is down on form and is really costing us.
  • Treacy dropping marks- he does everything so well but his dropped marks are killing us. A key forward that can't hold a mark isn't a key forward.
  • Brayshaw I50- Brayshaw Is an absolute gun in the contest but is a liability in the forwardline. He can't hit a leading forward on the chest and he is poor infront of goal. Would have been the difference today if he kicked those goals. This is why Warner is a perfect match for us.
  • Walters slowing down- not much we can do here except pray there is an elite small forward in the draft this year.

Gave away three 50m penalties and not sure if it was Clark or Treacy (99% sure it was Clark) regardless if it's worthy of a free kick, was selfish and hurt us.

Leadership group need to hold Clark/Treacy accountable for that selfish act
There are a few moments we'd like to have back. Cripps getting the ball out from under the pack to get the first goal, the 50's, dropped marks.

Relatively happy with the game overall. Lots of lessons. At the end of the day, while the win would have been big in terms of shaping the season, the loss is not a disaster. If we end round 6 at 4-2 then we're ahead of where we thought we'd be and probably set for a return to finals.

Really happy to see Fyfe and Sharp as our best two on ground. Bodes w
Really well the future.

Really looking forward to seeing how are playing when Darcy has a few games under his belt.

Also reckon that Simpson could force his way into this side to add a bit of burst and cleanliness into that forward line.

Spot on with Brayshaw, his kicking today was awful. 12 turnovers, missed an easy goal, misses targets inside 50. He simply doesn't hurt you

What are u on. We smashed in the middle and the clearances. Our composure cost us that proud of the lads we will hurt big time and learn from that

Anyways positives from the game:
  • Depleted defence able to keep McKay goalless
  • Draper held his own for the most part against Curnow. Just seemed to tire as the game went on.
  • Sharp was immense. Such a good pick up for free.
  • Clark should be in everyone's AA team this year.
  • Midfield absolutely destroyed Carlton in the clearances. Would've been nice if we had more forward of the ball to kick to
  • Absolutely matched it with Carlton who AFL loves to pretend are the bench mark. If this was the game for us to "prove ourself" there's no way you can argue that we didn't while talking up Carlton in the same breath
