Contested footy was a problem last week, and "resting" Tuck AND losing Conca won't improve our situation. I think Jackson, Grigg and Pettard looked a lot more "tired" than Tuck. I was a fan of White coming in after the Bulldogs game, but I didn't see him in the best players for Coburg last week. Ellis, Vlas and Helbig through the midfield is the future, but not now, when we have had such a solid start. With Martin's fade outs, this could play right into Freo's hands. Make the forced change of Conca, but keep Tuck in the side. Who is going to get the hard ball ? Mids are mostly outside players - which are totally useless if you can't get your hands on the ball to begin with. That leads Lids and Cotch to get the hard ball and finish. They will be stuffed after half time.

Still scratching my head - but I hope the Tigers pull this game off :thumbsu:

No Tuck, Conca or Foley (already).

Big big challenge for the mids. Brandon Ellis will get the biggest opportunity of his career so far IMO. He needs to lift and help fill the void in the midfield.
Cotchin will need help and will be exposed. Jackson will be very important in protecting him.
Deledio needs to bring his elite A game, enough said.

Hopefully the team can rise to the challenge. :thumbsu:

If we win, this will be a massive scalp... 8-point game!

Vlaustin named on the ball. Maybe the coaching panel know he'll go flat chat to show a couple of the others what is expected. He'll probably blow up in the 3rd and have to be subbed out but not a bad theory.

Deledio, Martin, Cotchin, Edwards and Vlaustin could play together in the guts for 5+ years.

Tough game this one with the outs.... Time for the next gen midfielders to step up and lend a hand.... Crowley should go to Lids.... and if he does I'd be rotating Lids, Cotch and Dusty through full forward.... let JR, Vick and Macca play lead up roles... Not feeling anxious about this game at all, probably due to lack of expectation. I do expect effort though and intensity..... show me that for 4 quarters and I'll be happy (and we will get pretty close). Wouldn't be surprised to see Nahas come in as a late change...

Hi all,

I'll be up in Canberra tomorrow night and just wondering if there is a pub in canberra where all the tiger supporters go to watch the game?

Love watching interstate games from melbourne at the london tavern and hoping to get a similar experience in canberra.

Thanks in advance.

We've got no chance. I'm dreading this one. Feeling rather negative about football today after seeing essendon play well

Anyone know how long Chaplin will be out for? I saw 'groin' on the news...

Pretty sure it's just concussion R_G, although they aren't too forthcoming on the injury front.

Two surprising selection decisions this week.

1) Ellis is still on the bench, with Grigg, King, Knights. Don't tell me Ellis will be sub again?

2) No Nahas? Very very stiff imo.
You're reading too much into it. Final lineup announced beforethe game, can be completely different. The sub might currently be on the field!

For the 15th time, I never said Vlastuin wouldn't be playing. Re-read my posts. It was never confirmed on Tuesday that he would play. It probably hadn't even been decided by then!

McGuane can't play as a small forward!! Haha he isn't that mobile. And sorry if you think I am having trouble understanding, it must be your poor english skills.

Why would we have White as a sub though? We have better players that could play that role, EG Nahas. Or we could pick a guy who is actually up to AFL standard and give him the sub role. Just because White is quick it doesn't mean he is suited to being a sub.

Have you watched Houli the past few games? He gets the ball, shits himself under pressure and handballs it to the first teammate he sees. He sold a teammate into trouble 3 times on Saturday, including 2 that turned into goals. Not to mention his shocker against the Bulldogs that handed them a goal.

Sure, Petterd hasn't been perfect, and yes dropped a couple of easy marks (due to the sun), and I'm not saying that Houli should be dropped, but he's been doing a better job than him.

Thats bc half the time those players SHOULDNT call for the ball.

Yep, I agree, they should have better awareness. But when Houli is running and can see guys behind the player calling for it, it's definitely his fault as well for giving him the ball.

Looks like just about everyone has given up already!
Also, no need to get bent out of shape about the team as named. Rarely turns out that way. Also, there is always the possibility of a late change. You know, ducks & drakes.
I'm just looking forward to the game!

Dissapointing if tuck was dropped, has been a bit below his usaul out put since round 1 (where he was close to BOG imo), but there has been much, much worse.

Good to see Vlas get a go. White, well we've seen what he can do. Not confident at all in this game.

Interesting stat.. We are ranked 16th for contested possesions, only st kilda and melbourne below us.

Just remember the stats ranking are for TOTALS and in no way reflect teams played, weather etc.

We are something like 6th's for contested possession differentials which are the right way to judge.

sure but not all of these so called errors was his. our team do it all the time, calling for ball instead of kicking it.

Good to see the team has a lot more run this week. Needed for Subi.
White, Vlas, Helbig will be out to make a statement. Hopefully they do, and hopefully they can set the example for tackling.
Would like to see Newman & Ellis to share duties and start in the backline early.

Will be there on Friday. Go Tiges!!

I don't think we are without a chance of winning because with Freo you just never know. Same as us.
We are Definately up against it as far as on ball depth goes though but we also might have a side that is very much suited to subiaco.
...... Provided we can get our hands on it!

Was at the open training session at Patterson today.
Very light training Grimes ,looked very smooth and sharp with the ball a composed player. It seems the Tigers are going for a team line up with speed across the ground which may work well at Patterson stadium time will tell. GO TIGERS!

After reading most of the replies since the side has been released I'm actually looking forward to the game tomorrow, especially the gymnastics that will be on display afterwards should we win.
