Looks like it will be back to 4 quarters. 26 man squad.

Assume all the depth players that played the 5th and 6th quarters will drop out.

Nathan Bassett confirmed that Dixon, Butters and Byrne-Jones will be back in the side. Finlayson still ruled out, and pending the injury list, Boak (back/rib bruising), Dumont (calf soreness), Lord (lacerated kidney) and Sinn (hamstring) all will probably miss out.

Changes:
IN: Dixon, Butters, Byrne-Jones, Evans
OUT: Boak (back/rib bruising), Rioli (throat soreness), Williams, Visentini, Hayes, Mead
Clurey, Pasini, Scully, Jackson, K.Marshall, McCallum, Barkla, Hagan (all not part of main game last week, drop out)

Team:
F: Teakle - Dixon - Fantasia
HF: Powell-Pepper - T.Marshall - Butters
C: Bonner - Wines - Duursma
HB: Bergman - Aliir - Burgoyne
B: Burton - Jonas (C) - Houston
R: Lycett - Horne-Francis - Rozee
INT FROM: Byrne-Jones - McEntee - Drew - Jones - Farrell - Georgaides - McKenzie - Evans
EMERG: Clurey - Williams - Pasini - Visentini

Looks like it will be back to 4 quarters. Yet to be seen if we go with a 23 man squad or go as many as 30.

Predicted Changes: (Squad of 23 or as many as 30? TBA)
IN: Dixon, Butters, Byrne-Jones
OUT: Boak (back/rib bruising), possibly 1-7 more based on squad size TBA
Clurey, Pasini, Evans, Scully, Jackson, K.Marshall, McCallum, Barkla, Hagan (all not part of main game last week, should drop out)

Predicted Side:
F: Powell-Pepper - Dixon - Rioli
HF: Butters - T.Marshall - Fantasia
C: Bonner - Wines - Duursma

I do like that predicted side, keen to see Bonner on a wing and that mix of Butters,Rioli and Fanta forward should be very dynamic. However on paper aint performing on field. Dixon back should free up Marshall and straighten us up. MG's form is our greatest worry at the moment. Apart from coach

.... Dixon back should free up Marshall and straighten us up ....
I was thinking about that last night. Dixon's role changed last year to a more mobile one. When not rucking he was no longer staying 'at home' as a double-teamed CHF but pushing out to the flank/wing. He was more effective there than he'd been for ages. Surely we don't want to go back to locking him into patrolling CHF for some largely mythical taps and spills?

Only if we play him in the AFL team. Georgiades has done SFA since 2021 and if anything looks worse this pre-season. Couldn't run into an open goal against West Coast yesterday.
We carried an uncompetitive Todd Marshall for years before he magically transformed in R2 last year. Do we expect lightning to strike twice in the same place?

Did they actually come back to Adelaide, or stay over there?

They're staying over.

No doubt it's being treated as a holiday rather than a serious football trip to prepare for the imminent season (see Jonas' comments at the season launch about training loads coming off and looking forward to going on Georgiades' yacht).

Got to get the work/life balance right.

Whatever happened to the Dockside trophy or whatever it was called that Port and Freo played for early after we entered the AFL? If I recall correctly it was going to be like the Ashes urn and be held by whoever had last won.
