Had to laugh when Johno Brown was saying one of our positives last year was Crozier of the half back.
Crozier spent the preseason in the backline only to be sent back up on the HFF.

Speaking of hotspots. Why were the Eagles able to mark the ball so often 30m directly infront.
We failed on so many of the basic levels. Protecting the corrider, protecting 30m out in front. Giving up so much space to leading forwards. Most of that can be fixed with some basic tactics and effort.
Struggling to see what the point of that game was. Unless they were happy just blowing out the cobwebs.

Unfortunately he was very poor, but considering the support he got from the midfield and the other defenders it was probably nothing to be too worried about.
We were just a rabble and he was on the end of it.

Dam, he will get there. Seems like defence was a bit of a mess (it's 1st game ffs). not sure why people are getting so angry over this match. Was 1st match for Freo to try different things.fair to say struggled
Doubt the scores even matter to the coaches, more of a session to see how their strategic plans hold up. It's preseason guys, was WCE 2nd match so they reviewed their 1st match (where they got smashed) and put more plans into place. Expected result IMO, however it doesn't define the clubs success for the real season
I'm curious why Darcy only came on in the last quarter.
In those conditions I would have thought a continual rotation of the full bench would be better.
With that performance, it's amazing we kept the margin to only 55 points.
We even made Lecras look like a good player.

I think freo cannot depend on sheriden and sutty, ibbo . fast track Luke Ryan ,play Collins logue in next week match .
I know it's only one pre season game and I'm happy to be proven wrong but it looked a lot like Hamling has been a part of a team that plays great football and has been able to cruise along with them but once exposed in the one on one he gets found out

It's always half/half in preseason.
We do have a long way to go though. I think losing Yarran up forward may hurt us more than we realise, despite his limited game time.

On reflection I'm thinking they don't really implement specific plans and play tagging roles in these kind of games, its more just seeing how the structures and transition work under live fire.
A few things came off but not many. Long way to go.
