Rumour Future of the club (Bevo, board, assistant coaches, football department)

Move on the coach and we get a whole new set of assistants, players wanting to come to our club etc, instead we're seemingly scrambling to fill assistant spots.
I'd have moved on from Beveridge as well but so many of the criticisms being leveled at him and the front office are purely speculative. Literally none of this is well evidenced - neither your account of the current situation nor the alternative universe scenario you've given are actually known, but they're being used to criticise the board's decision.

I thought we had a raft of assistants lined up that were being kept top secret so President Mouseco could wait for supporter blood to boil to exactly the right temp before announcing them, but the Pratt appointment getting out has me questioning everything.
Yeah it doesn't look there is much of a plan. If they were going to announce a "raft of signings" at the same time once a footy manager position was sorted (as has been speculated here) then this definitely goes against that notion.
This just smacks of amateur hours in full swing

Not criticising Beveridge here, just saying I would have moved on and as for the front office, it's clear they're attached the Beveridge. Darcy on the board, he helped appoint him, so did Grant, KWW, would no doubt leave these decisions to them. Anyway...

It would have to be next to impossible for the club not to have landed at least one coach so far.

a wise man once said to me PEOPLE DONT BUY PRODUCTS PEOPLE BUY PEOPLE I dont think Chris Crant could

Welcome to the world of Chris Crant

Just read this on The Age website. We desperately need some more experienced people surrounding Bevo

The Western Bulldogs have earmarked Geelong development coach Matt Egan to work in a senior football role alongside coach Luke Beveridge as they restructure their coaching panel after missing the finals.

Former North Melbourne player and West Coast assistant coach Daniel Pratt - who was an assistant in charge of the backline at the Eagles when they won the 2018 premiership - is also set to join the new-look coaching panel at the club. He had been at the club since 2014 but recently moved back to Victoria to further his coaching career.
Egan, who had been head of development at Geelong since returning to the club at the end of 2021, came back into the frame when Collingwood assistant Justin Leppitsch decided to remain with the Magpies after the premiership. In contract at the Cats, he would need to be released from his role there with the Cats already having lost assistant coach Shaun Grigg to the Gold Coast while James Rahilly has returned.

Beveridge has two years remaining on his contract after extending his time at the club in December last year, but the club has decided they need fresh voices within the football department to realise the list’s potential.
The coach who led them to the drought breaking flag in just his second season as senior coach in 2016 and a grand final appearance in 2021 is well regarded for his work ethic and tactical acumen but the team disappointed in 2023 when they missed finals after losing the elimination final in 2022.

The Bulldogs have not played a final in Melbourne since their premiership win at the MCG in 2016 and because of the pandemic have only played three of their 12 finals under Beveridge in Melbourne. However he has been a successful coach in his nine seasons at the helm with a 56 percent winning record in his 206 matches.

King is a good get for the Cats, hopefully that means Egan is out and they’re reshuffling roles.

So that would leave us with

Bevo
Egan/Lade senior assistant/DOC role
Fwd: Spangher
Mid: Egan/Lade
Def: Pratt

It’s probably an improvement but would still be mighty underwhelming after our big song & dance about getting better.

It’s still one change light on for mine, Hale in too shifting Spangher down (put him on the flipping raffle drive for all I care honestly) and I’d be content with the amount of change for one off-season.

What you suggest may work WITH a good General Manger of Football who is a strong character and has got good footy background in such a role

If Grant remains in the role then we are one change light and in need of a strong Director of coaching

Wasn't it said Spangher was moving to a development role?

So fair to say we've struggled to bring in coaches then
Yup, if we’re literally not capable of upgrading his position - ie a position we’re admitting is not up to standard if we’re looking for an upgrade in the first place.

And we haven’t been able to achieve that, well that would be a hugeeee failure on the club

It wasn't the role he was hired for in the first place.
What have you heard?
Nothing that hasn't already been posted here.

Something has gone terribly wrong or there is something amiss at the Kennel with regards to attracting good assistants

We have a talented list and new facilities.
You would think someone would love to work with a forward line of a Naughton and JUH.

A midfield with Bont English Libba etc

A defensive unit of Dale Richards Jones etc

What is going on is a mystery

So far the team has managed to get Pratt which is a good appointment. It could be just the club is taking longer in finding assistants with the right fit. At least I hope so. I'm hoping that they're looking far and wide for assistants and get 1 for every line.

Yeah no point getting too up in arms until we see how it plays out fully. Leppa was the right move but it was always a stretch to get him out of the Pies considering he’s long time mates with Mccrae, just won the flag and why leave what’s working. But glad to see we had a red hot crack.

Mcqualter was a bit disappointing to miss out on to another shit side with a flog head coach though

Pratts a good move, let’s hope there’s still a lot more to come
