Rumour Future of the club (Bevo, board, assistant coaches, football department)

Our defense was awesome in 2021. Looking at the personnel it wasn’t amazing, although I’m sure many of us were calling for Keath to be named AA FB (how things change……)

Williams played well that year, Dale and Daniel great off HB and Duryea a great lockdown. They’ve all regressed massively imo. Difficult to see them get back to that level.

All that said, better coaching is the key here. Nobody has six stars in their backline, if Bevo and the club get their s**t together the backline should be good enough and a midfield and forward line that is still pretty full of high draft picks hopefully delivers.
I think the 2016 were better 1 on 1 defenders and more desperate not to lose. Yet you are correct, massive drop off from 2021 to the degree that we have moved past all of those mentioned players to a degree. I would leave Dale there, yet with better 1 on 1 defender around him. The rest of the backline should be totally different to 2021 as we need a fresh look. Something like:

JJ Jones Coffield
Dale O'Donnell Richards

Options pushing Khamis, Clearly, Gallagher, Croft

For me you need to show faith in Buku as the 3rd tall for a few weeks (see if it can work at senior level). I'd also love to see Richards have a spell in the middle yet depends I if someone can stand up in his role.

Maybe worth Grant, Darcy & Co. going for a drive out the Old Calder to Keilor and seeing if Mick McGuane’s busy doing anything?

Interesting, reminds me of something I was told on the weekend. Jordan Croft played seniors this year for Marby Park against Keilor. After the game, McGuane went into the Marby rooms to give Croft a wrap, apparently Keilor thought he was BOG.

I really like Daniel Pratt's CV. "Pratt was an integral part of the coaching structure that molded the successful 2018 campaign.
He also spent time away from the AFL program, developing his own skills as the club’s AFLW coach in 2020-21 as well as steering the WAFL Eagles team in 2021. Resumed as backs coach in 2022"

It is irrelevant to highlight that we are getting a line coach from a team that has had 2 very poor years.

I also like the fact that he ended his playing career as the Captain of a VFL team that won a flag.

Good pick-up. We just need to get Matt Egan and I'll be rapt.

Kornberg named fulltime Frankston coach..
Another missed!
Were we actually linked with him outside of this thread?

My guess is probably not. I can't see how a coach who might be ambitious and try to learn as much as possible would leave an AFL club to go to stand alone VFL club. If we were into him, there's no logical reason (looking at this from the outside obviously) that he would not want to continue in an AFL club. You are much more likely to get more opportunities if you are embedded in an AFL club that not.

Maybe he just wasn't a realistic option or is actually any better that what we already have

Missed?

An instagram post of him and one of our players doesn't indicate that he was on our radar.

His taking up a coaching role with a stand alone VFL side that finished near the bottom of the ladder suggests that aside from this place typically putting 1 + 1 together and coming up with 11 as the answer. That he was never considered, because if he was Im pretty sure that he'd rather be working in an elite if somewhat disfunction system within the AFL than on the bones of his arse at Franga.

Presumably this is for the Director of Coaching role?
Not sure. Just said he is coming. I would say so though going by the talk in the media.
