Rumour Future of the club (Bevo, board, assistant coaches, football department)

All those other clubs were better on the day. That's why they won.

It's a bit fanciful to think we could have won all the close ones (although Collingwood did a good job of that last year) but the point was that we didn't do enough in those games to halt the opposition comebacks and/or run-ons.

That's what we've spent a good part of the year gnashing our teeth over. That's a large part of this whole debate.
You may see it as being all on the players but not everyone sees it that way.
Exactly. So much commentary from the club and supporters here about how we pushed Collingwood, Port etc... Collingwood monstered us for two quarters until they switched off in the last 10 mins where we got junk time goals. Port during Gather Round completely controlled the last quarter to close it out while in the return at Marvel they were the better team for all 4 quarters and had a 2 goals lead almost all night (don't give me that Oskar Baker decision costing us the game). We scored one point in the last quarter against a Geelong team on fumes, and don't even get me started on the Sydney/GWS/Hawks debacles.

Seriously depressing press conference.

It's like a highlight reel of excuses from the last 6 weeks all baked into one.

Why the * is he waffling about Bont & Libba being the only 2 from his time starting.

Of course the list has turned over in 9 years.
Caleb Daniel, Bailey Dale and Toby McLean got Drafted in 2014 so they all started off under Bevo.

There must be heaps going on IMO

We suddenly drop games to Hawks and EAGLES! with top 8 at stake, coinciding with Smith not having his contract renewed.

The performance on the field by the players the last two weeks was a protest to something.
Honestly, if any players put in less effort when finals were at stake as a protest they should be moved on.

Similarly, the Gold Coast game up in Darwin. If we won that it would have been off 15 good minutes at the start and end of the match. Everything in between was a struggle to score and we were picked apart defensively. The better team won that game.

Even though I didn't and wouldn't bother watching the presser. What did anybody expect?

Beveridge has never been the most engaging public speaker. That is especially so when he's doing these mandated pressers in front of people who sound as bored by the process as he does.

Think about it. When was the last time a coach. Any coach actually said or a reporter asked anything of worth at one of these things?

The reporters will ask their stock questions. Beveridge will reply with stock answers in the most perfunctory way possible, with an eye to doing something useful with his time.

Pressers are as contrived as the WWE just without the personality or fun.

What I would have liked?

Do you feel the list is better than going into the last round relying on another team to lose to make finals, is the team better than that?

We need to be better than that, clearly we have let some chances slip this year and we aren’t in the position both is internally and our supporters would like us to be in. All we can do is put our best foot forward Saturday night and see what happens. We need to review our season and look at all aspects of why we have not performed to the level we expect of ourselves and put in place what we need to achieve the potential we believe we have as a group.

That’s something I’d like to hear, some ownership, some acknowledgement and no excuses.

If I've interpreted this correctly it reinforces my concerns with the gameplan that we implement which is more focused on retaining the ball then doing anything with it. We've invested so much into our forwardline recently but we don't give our forwards any fast entries, instead waiting until there is an interceptor in the hole for us to kick to. Our midfielders rack up cheap stats with minimal impact.
Even at center bounces it feels like we rarely exit from the front of the clearance instead coming out the back or sides and then having to kick over opposition players going inside 50.

Agree but how does one explain what has occurred?

Eagles really? Apprehensive before the game?

Hawks missed tackles etc etc

Maybe sub consciously the effort was not there.

Everything the club has done this week affirms that we are sleepwalking our way to a list bottom out and rebuild.

Dark days ahead. Thank god Bont and Libba jagged a flag early.

Unfortunately I think you are correct - this has been my fear for a few years. They left it too late.

Do you really think Dogs are going to publicly announce stuff doing their last game and potential finals run

When they will do everything behind closed doors and release a report in two months time

Toby McLEAN, Bailey Williams and Caleb Daniel were at the club when he started?

They are playing tomorrow

I didn't even really take in what he said regarding team/players etc. Except for Bailey Smith's health....and that Kumbya won't fix things (wow! he's actually learned something).

It was just the deep sighs before every comment, particularly early - such a struggle.

Awful. I actually feel sorry for Bevo.

I am for replacing Bevo but some of the comments here are way over the top. He has been our best performing coach ever just think his use by date is up. The subtle comment maybe directed at management in his presser was that he was about to meet with the players in our MAKESHIFT theatre.
Spot on to suggest he is the most uninspiring man is laughable considering he inspired us to a flag from 7th

He definitely was, 2016 and 2021 being examples of this but the well runs dry eventually for these types of coaches and you get exposed when you don't have the ability to actually influence matchday with personnel move, which he does not have.
