Name a better 19 year old CHB.

Rivers will be one of the premier defenders in a few years time once he bulks up.

At the moment he is 192 or 193cm and 88kg. Just wait til he gets to around the 93-94kg mark.
MAGUIRE you fool. Yes, he's still 19!!!

Who can you see being a future elite player in their position?

defence, midfield, forward,ruckmen and utilitys.

Backline:
Luke McPharlin
Matt Maguire
Jared Rivers

Midfielders:
Chris Judd
Paul Hasleby
Nick Dal Santo
Luke Ball
Daniel Kerr (maybe:confused:not sure)

Forwards:
Jonathon Brown
Brendon Fevola
Aaron Davey (maybe, backing him to be top small forward)

Utilitys:
Adam Goodes
Matthew Pavlich
Nick Riewoldt

Ruckmen:
Aaron Sandilands
Justin Koschitzke

Seven of those blokes are already 'top liners.'

Judd, Hasleby, Brown, Fevola, Goodes, Pavlich and Riewoldt.

I would suggest that Amon Beucannon will become a star not sure how old he is though.

agreed.

saw him in the tac cup final a couple of years ago where he kicked 7 goals as a small forward IIRC????????

have rapt him ever since and put him in my fantasy footy team;)

no credit to you saints fans. no credit to you dees fans either. typical bigfooty - people supremely biased towards thier own team.

Impressive stats - even if they are accurate, I defy you to judge the best defender by stats alone.

Let's let the Brownlow medal count decide this for us eh?

But the idea of a backman is to stop your forward getting the ball.... hence the stats are irrelevant. Eg: Darren Glass did an excellent job on Matthew Richardson today.. and beat him and Glass would have been lucky to get 3 kicks... so stats don't suggest anything for backmen.... maybe more stats means they are looser.

I'll go as far as saying that noone in the Swans team works harder when the opposition have the ball than Amon. His defensive pressure is extraordinary. It's resulted in a few free kicks, but that'll improve with experience. I'm not going to go as far as saying he'll be at the same level as most of the players mentioned in this thread... but I really don't know how far he'll go.

Definitely looking like a good player at this stage, and I'm more than happy with him.

Ruckmen:
Justin Koschitzke

Kosi isn't a ruckman in the full sense of the word, and I'm always lothe to see him in that position because he has struggled with injury recently.
As one of my favourite players (who brings up 50 games this week), I think he is more suited to the forward line, he starred a few weeks ago up forward.

Jason Blake is more your future around the grounds ruck king, if you ask me.

Spot on about Dal Santo and Ball, though. Dal is so rapid with his movement we call him Matrix! ;)

In terms on impact on the game, effectiveness and presence, Maguire is easily the breakout star this year.
He also leads (at just 20 y.o) the best back 6 in the competition, and his 1% are superb.
Ask any non-biased person who is more effective in thier position, I'm sure you'll come up with Maguire nearly every time.

What if he gets these sorts of stats yet his man kicks 7 on him?

Silvagni hardly ever got a large amount of possessions, but he beat his man, helped out his fellow defenders and rebounded safely from the opposition forward line. THIS is how you rate defenders, not by their disposal count. They aren't bloody midfielders you know?
