Game Day - Port v West Coast

Petters has been the cause of about 6 of their goals at the moment.

Don't get me started on Pettigrew, him getting games in front of Cornes is a joke.

Why isnt that 50? He clearly said 'Jay Schulz free kick' 3 times and then the Eagles player handballs it straight to Rosa?
The worst part of our no-hearted efforts is that we put no acid on the umpires to officiate the game properly. We have the cues in the rack from the first minute and the umps take the day off too.

Well it was a better quarter, but its clear that West Coast are doing enough to win the game. We've held them off pretty well and I think we've done alright through the midfield, but you cant afford stupid mistakes deep in defence like Pettigrew has done 5 times and you cant afford to have a non existant forward line.

Its clear to me though that we are only just going. We just lack any sort of movement, we look so slow across the ground, we lack pace and their players always seem to find worlds of space.

Gray, Chaplin and Boak have been good. Pearce has had plenty of it but has shanked it everytime hes touched it. Hartlett ok. Stewart and Brogan doing well in the ruck.

Need a big lift from Schulz, Mots and Hoff.

The umpire kept pointing the other way for some reason.

Thought we were the better team that quarter but punished on the scoreboard. Their forward fifty entries are simply better at the moment, we need Schulz to stand up as a marking target, as there's no real plan at the moment.

Brogan is teaching Cox a lesson though.

we are a very unspiring team
one that loves to break supporters will
how did it get this bad?
we're in it, but that's one of those mathematical things
when will one of our younger players take a game on and do something?

i think we'be seen enough of Trengove to see he won't be the big white hope we were hoping for
sigh
new coaches too please
keep trying fellas, at least give us that.

Well, we're fundamentally a very poor side. There's not much more to it than that.

Primus' coaching is worrying me. Tactically, he seems to have things wrong.

The persistence of Chaplin as our loose man has not worked at all this year. Chaplin gets some nice interceptions, but unlike the Hurns of this world who kick the ball beautifully, or the Shaws who run the ball down the ground, Chaplin is only a 30-40m player, not a 70-80m player. We then get killed at the other end of the ground, where our forwards are quickly becoming as poorly performing as our midfielders. No output at all from Schulz, Westhoff or Daniel Stewart against an opposition that is not overly endowed with height or size, but keeps to structures.

Conversely, all over the ground we have no structure. Our backs play entirely as individuals, our forwards are almost always outnumbered, and our mids win clearances but do not spread at all well.

To compound the Chaplin as the loose man problem, our worst and dumbest excuse of a footballer, Pettigrew, picks up the matchup that Chaplin dominated late last year. Each of LeCras' goals have come from Pettigrew over-committing to the contest ineffectively.

Big concerns over the AFL capabilities of Phillips after the last month or so. Does buggerall as a small forward.

O'Shea is back in the struggling van after the last two matches.

Best players: Brogan, Gray for limited opportunities, Pearce for effort not for effectiveness, Thomas for effort, Logan for his all-round performance.

Lots of poor, dumb footballers who are down. Motlop needs to do better up forward.

We just any sort of quality in the midfield. The only player who seems to be able to hit a target is Motlop.

It's nice to see Philips has settled a little bit even though he hasn't done much.

I'm trying to be as positive as I can with this first half performance but our efficiency has been sub-par. In and under work from Dom has been nice, Boak has shown signs of class, Pearce is trying but disposal letting us down, Gray not bad, Brogs trying hard sounds like he roughed up the Eagles a little.

Kornes and Grew laughable. Hard to see a way back into this, have to be so much cleaner with possession.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing... well when I say wondering, I mean screaming 50 at the tv.

Brogan has been terrific.

When you think about it, anything that has required instruction or coaching this year, we have been awful at. Kick outs, stoppages up forward, switching of the play, defensive zones, spread from centre-square clearances and throw-ins.

Primus is failing to show any signs that he is teaching the players how to play as a team.

This is just pathetic. Boak has played well, everyone else has ranged from average to disgraceful.

Kane Cornes, Michael Pettigrew and Simon Phillips should be delisted at half time. Especially Pettigrew. There is just absolutely zero reason to have this guy in the team. Someone summed it up brilliantly before in another thread. He's not young, he's not good and he's not the future. And I'd add that he screws up our structure by making it too tall to that list. And I'd add that we have a very good small defender who would fix up our structure and who is currently stuck in the SANFL to that list. SO WHY THE **** ARE WE ****ING PLAYING HIM!

Kornes out, Banner in. Pettigrew out, Surj in. Phillips out, Rodan in. Kornes has done enough to earn one farewell game late in the season to round out his career, the rest can **** off and not come back. If it wasn't for the youth policy O'Shea would be gone for Salopek too. Make it happen Matty.

The hallmark of young sides is speed, enthusiasm, fitness. Not us, this year we've conspired to look like a team of old plodders at every opportunity.

Winning clearances doesn't require coaching? Watched West Coast pretty much beat Adelaide over here purely because of winning clean clearances, Kerr and Cox dominated. Our setups have been very good today, and a number of times we've had a clear kick from the centre square. Just a shame we're not using it well enough today.

Defensively we've been ok but we do need to be a lot better getting it out of their forward line.
