Ollie Henry was another who is a concern. One trick pony. If he doesn’t mark the ball he provides sfa in defensive pressure.
Yes have said that but of course apparently I’m a Tigers supporter for saying it……
Out the back Ollie…… when he has an opponent then nothing happens …. Jake Lever Melbourne game is who Ollie is…..

Good Lord, that just about made throw up my breakfast. Fitness, yeah. But if ever aside need to learn to NOT fumble, to be a good enough kick to kick it to a TEAMMATE, instead of spraying it elsewhere, etc, its Geelong. Our basic skills under pressure are atrocious. Take Tyson Stengle and we are pathetic in this most important factor.

Our running patterns vs our ball skills is like that joke about a dog who chases a car.

Spot on (the dog) :)

I think it's about time that we just realise that statistically, over the last 5 games, we are easily the worst side in the competition. 18th in disposal efficiency?

Yes, Clark is a disaster. 40% disposal efficiency is not AFL standard. Dropping him won't make a bit of difference. Hardie could easily do his role, IMHO, but it wouldn't change the team's chances at all.

Yes, we have a small, underweight team now, and the midfield just gets monstered.

Yes, it is clear that the selectors and coaches took a huge risk in searching for plan B and gambled by not playing a dedicated ruck, but it was remarkably stupid and everyone knew it would never work.

Yes, we would easily lose every game from here until season's end.

But Carlton are definitely the better team, by far, with a premiership window in front of them. Their fans are sooks though, and let's hope karma strips them of any chance to hold the cup.

I have spoken.

Why would they request trades? 4 of your 5 are likely in the Rd 1 team next year. The other will get delisted and won't be picked up elsewhere

They shouldn't have to wait 9 months to be getting a game though. 4 or 5 of them should be in the side now.

Staggering that Mannagh in his only full game for us racked up 13 possessions, a goal and 2 goal assists as a small forward against Adelaide, and hasn't had a look in since. Connor O'Sullivan showed some promise in his one and only AFL game, and also hasn't had a look in since. With us playing SDK in the ruck last night, shouldn't we have brought him in to play as a key defender last night in SDK's place?

Can't see how the likes of Hardie, Stevens and Clohesy would've been any worse than the 11 possessions and 5 tackles we got out of Bowes last night, or Mark O'Connor's 9 possessions, or even Oisin Mullin's 3 possessions.

Guess we'll never know, as for some reason the match committee seems allergic to rewarding VFL form this year.

Well lads I haven’t watched the game but kept updated with the scores, it seems bog average has glued itself to the cats…. I’ll watch a replay today….. oh dear ……

Save yourself the torture. I'm a replayaholic and am refusing this one unless armed with a swear jar and six bottles of shiraz.

LOL. Apparently Abbey is a very warm person, known to hug the players in her dealings with them off screen (no shade intended) so basically she is a hugger. So they were horrified when Neale was media called out, by certain radical sections, after the Brisbane game for the kiss/hug.
Looks like the Blues boys were backing her. Very funny. I remember Danger's face after the GF interview Abbey hug, like a chuffed school boy. Good on her, the grating gushing ones could take a lesson from Abbey.
‘Certain radical sections’. Hilarious! It was a lifestyle opinion writer in rhe Age giving her opinion, which probably no-one else agrees with, radical or non-radical.

Very much so
20 disposals
20 hit outs

Showed he can actually play the position
Agree, was beaten by his brother on some key moments but also had possibly the highest rating by any cat in any game this year. So to say he was poor was statistically incorrect.

So does the MC stick to plan A, keep playing the same underperforming players until the end of the year or come up with Plan B which doesn't exist yet?
In MC We Trust 😜

Difference between Round 7 and Round 15 midfield is astonishing. No wonder we got spanked!

Outs - C. Guthrie (27 disposals), R. Stanley (a ruckman!), T. Bruhn (big body mid) - starting Followers! B. Parfitt (big body mid)

In: T. Stewart, T. Atkins, J. Clark, G. Rohan (sub)

The ins are good players but I’d play Parfitt over Atkins and Stewart isn’t the same player he was back in the early rounds.

Nah... not even average... well below it.

I'm totally fine with that as long as we are not wasting games that we could be getting into our next generation.

Can someone please explain to me how the ruck contests were umpired last night?

Apparently you are allowed to tackle your opponent and throw them out of the way, shepherd them from the ball drop and give 2 hand shoves in the back. The way the umps were allowing tdk (and to a lesser extent Cripps) manhandle SDK gave him absolutely no chance.

In general I have almost given up trying to figure out how our game is umpired.

Handball vs throw?
Htb? Prior opportunity, no legit attempt to dispose?
Chopping arms vs legit contest?
Ruck contests?
7m kicks that are sometimes marks, sometimes play on?
Dangerous tackles?
50m penalties? Sometimes yes, sometimes no?

I could go on and on.

I legit have no idea
It's called : Spirit of the Game
Always interpret in favour of the underdog or new rising team.
Pay attention to the crowd screaming for frees you missed.
Balance a dubious free kick goal with a soft free in defense.
Assume Glamour Boys and Superstars can do no wrong.
Avoid obvious frees instead control the game via momentum.
Keep the game exciting by changing momentum to trailing team.
Spectacular feats and exciting plays must go unpunished.
If scores are tight bury the whistle until last minute for drama.
Pay 50m penalty against a player that calls out any bias.
Pay 1 dumb free per Q for health benefits of venting frustration.

Would love to see an umpiring experiment in a Practice Match
The aim is to see if a rouge umpire could influence outcome
Where one umpire is secretly told to favour a team for 1Q
Then another umpire to favour the other team for 1Q
Umpires would be instructed to push it but not make it obvious.
Post game meeting with unknowing Coaches to get feedback
Collect data and to identify any potential Game Fixing issues.

Would be surprised if players noticed the hidden bias.

Theres clearly a disconnect between the coaches and the list management team who recruited mannagh. And it will annoy me when hes kicking goals for someone like carlton or essendon or port next year.

We know your love of Mannagh, it’s rare for you to make a post not demanding his inclusion, but that’s a hyperbolic claim at best.

We got beat up around the ball last night and adding a small forward would have changed FA. The delusion that probably the smallest player on our list would help fix that is laughable.
I’m not against him getting a game, but what he brings to the team ain’t going to fix our problems.

We are small and lack creativity and power in the guts. Clohesy (small but a competitive animal) and Stevens aren’t silver bullets but are probably the best options to help address those concerns.

Also if Stengle leaves, he won’t be going anywhere unless there is a godfather offer IMO. He’s next cab off the rank. He would know that.

Ahhh we still lost inside 50s 66 to 45 and got lucky in that game + a few before that.

I remember posting something along the lines of

"It's weird, we are 7 - 0, on top of the ladder and I'm not sure if we are even any good".

We were fools gold early in the year.

I think I read somewhere that Hardie is a rookie, and they can't play him in the AFL side unless there's a long-term injury he can be nominated to replace. But I may be wrong on that score.
Unread that asap... it's 100% incorrect.

Anyone and everyone on a club's list can play if selected these days.

Chris Scott - "we're not going to say, oh well, now we're 8 and 6, we're going to be rebuilding... We haven't done that for 14 years, not going to start now. "

Rohan fits if we drop O Henry.

Massive upgrade on defensive efforts. Can mark, kick goals.

Henry is better than rohan and has much more upside.
But the problem is this gameplan we play of trying to get out the back running towards goal with the forwards doesnt suit henry-hes a lead up forward. This is why he was better under the old gameplan last year. The running back towards goal suits rohan who is quick and can tackle but cant do a lot else.

We need to figure out what forward structure we want without hawkins before we decide who to pick.

I’m struggling to see the point in recruiting Mannagh.

He’s 27 this year. So it’s not like he’s ’the future’ like the other people being kept out of the side in the VFL. You bring someone of that age in to play, not to run around kick in goals in the VFL
Which I agree with you. They haven't recruit him to play in 3 years time, they have recruit him to play now.. And they haven't yet done that for him. Yes I'd say 80% on here thinks Mannagh should be playing and I'm one of them. But if they don't play him rite now we scratch our heads in asking why recruit Mannagh.

And honestly if I was Mannagh at season's end I'd be asking the coaches where do I fit in your plans going forward? And if they don't know I'd be asking for a trade, as there would be plenty of clubs that are contending would want him. And we would be lucky to get his value back
