From a neutral observer:

What the Dogs should do next week:

OUT:
Brad Johnson (has been a true champion, but clearly struggling with that achilles)
Mitch Hahn (has cooked it, turned it over too much tonight, [min four times by my count])
Will Minson (only capable of reckless, dumb football)
Shaun Higgins/Dylan Addison

IN:
Andreas Everitt (could be a real wildcard across half-forward/back)
Jordan Roughead* (if fit)
Brodie Moles
Easton Wood

Shove a rocket under
Matthew Boyd
Daniel Cross
Daniel Giansiracusa

On a more positive note, Griffen was tremendous for your boys.

Lake, Picken & Murphy also commendable.

Griff taken off and knee getting strapped. Hopefully its just precautions.

I would say just precations. Has had a great game, but it was obviously lost. No point keeping him on when he came in injured.

Pretty much the only one who gave it a go tonight

Sir, would you be so kind as to take charge of our selection committee for one week? Hell, I'll vote you in for a three year term if you keep making that much sense!!

Back to bed for a couple of more hours of sleep. I'll be canceling my flight to Melbourne when I get back from Kansas City. Not a very good birthday. :(

My condolences, Chicago, that those lazy sods...er, the boys couldn't get up for you. :( At least you can buy yourself a nice present with the cash you'll save with not coming down here.

That final was as bad as the smashing we had at the hands of West Coast in 2006. Can't wait for this season to be over, and we can start making some deep cuts into our list.

Gone:
Hahn
Johno
Eagleton
Harbrow
Minson
Aker

Play the kids, and have the guts to drop players who don't perform Rocket:mad:

What does Hahn offer that Jones couldn't?

What does Johnson offer that Hooper couldn't?

What does Higgins offer that Moles couldn't?

Frickin Bulldogs, build themselves up only to bring themselves back down when you get emotionally invested in them.

Rocket has no guts when it comes to dropping established players.

The only team I could barely stand losing a flag to is the Dogs.

Having said that, you need to harden up. This isn't Queensbury rules.

I'm reminded of "Danny from Droop St" with the Couldabeens, the negativity is pervasive. When will you unleash the animal? Where is the Dog?

We've got one flag between us in about 100 years of footy but we're the heart and soul of the game. Getting the opposition down isn't enough, you've got to gouge their eyes out! You only arsed Aka cos he didn't fit the culture of the loser mentality. He knew how how to do it so the loser mentality closed him out.

Bring on the Pies V Dogs grand final!

Taking half fit players into finals never works lets see what we do do next week at the selection table before we concide to sydney or carlton

Well that was pretty bad but I expected as much, I hope to god Johnno & Hahn aren't playing next week they offer nothing and are a detriment to our side when playing. (Higgins should be sitting next week out too, he's not fit & as for Will Minson well what can we say ).

Griffen has to be commended that was brave what he did today with the sore knee and all :thumbsu:

Pity not many others followed in his footsteps but I guess it's a well known fact now that he always performs for us in finals.

well we had the best of them for the first 10 minutes and failed to kick a goal and again when the game was there to be saved in the second quarter we lacked a physical presence.

realistic outs:Minson,Hahn,Higgins,Johnson,Eagleton

in:Moles,Everitt,Jones and any new kids that deserve a crack at making history

The start of the end of the Eade era, this was a match lost at the selection table and proof that we just do not have the nous to go any further in finals footy. The structures and tactics have been tried in 08, in 09 and now in 2010 only with worse cattle. It is madness to expect that Hahn in as a backman after a shit season, two lame players in Higgins and Johnno, and a "finals" specialist in Callan will get us over the line.

Such a shame, another wasted opportunity. I think we all saw this one coming from Thursday night. At least. This year for mine has exposed some real issues at the Club, we're far too conservative and stubborn with our selections, we have not developed any real strong leaders or instilled a real desire to establish ourselves as a winning team. Too many blokes have failed us too many times and nothing seems to change.

Johnno, you are a legend of this Club. Deserving of the utmost respect from us as fans and the football world for your brilliance over your career, your sportsmanship and passion for the tricolours. You simply did not deserve to be ridiculed like that tonight and shame on the Club for not making a hard call to prevent it, moreso shame on those who jeered you. One of the poorest displays I've ever seen. I could understand if the #6 had been a prick over the journey but am baffled by the hate and shit he is copping.

Well said.

I totally agree with your comments on the lack of leadership and the conservatism at the selection table. I also feel that it is the beginning of the end for the Rocket Regime at the club.

BJ certainly didn't deserve what he copped tonight, but people can be cruel and kick a guy when he is down. Karma can be a mean biatch though, so their day will come.

True ..... I know one idiot near us who was bagging him was a Dogs supporter, hope there weren't more of us doing it but probably were.
