GAME THREAD - Us v Them

Russell has been shit all year and has been poor again but looks to be getting better as the game goes on. Still shows no aggression and head isn't in the game. Has lost a lot of pace.

Lack of accountability.

Playing too lose in the back line, Yarran especially.

We're being too defensive on the ball and not attacking to footy enough. Gibbs that's you. Trying to stop the man getting it rather than trying to beat him at winning the ball.

Not going long enough over the zone when going forward.

Hampson can't tackle and chase, it's exposing us terribly.

We have far too many players who's natural game is to play against playing contested footy.

We are being too defensive in the center. We need to be more ball focused while playing tight.

We are not attacking enough and are not using the long kick enough. Short tempo footy, uncontested footy, unaccountable footy is what we are doing and it's gonna kill us.

We need to play tight and tackle hard but when we get the footy we need to break hard and go long and move it quickly, Dennis Pagan game plan style. Must go over the top of the play and back our runners to run onto it.

How do Thomas, Didak, Beams, Blair and co always end up loose on the outside of the pack. I don't get it. Gee, they're a good side.

Gibbs on Pendles is not working. They can afford to lose Pendlebury more than we can afford to lose Gibbs.

What game are you watching? Everything that was working well for us early started to break down in that qtr. The run from the backline has dried up and we are a mess when we finally get a chance to go fwd. Or are you on the "it's the ump's fault" train?

Jesus... do you expect us to be dominating the reigning premiers?

Sure, we're a few goals down... but most of those goals were opportunistic snaps from small forwards around stoppages. Jeff Garlett could have kicked 3 goals that he missed, and subtract the goal from Blair and we'd be 3 points down. If luck had run our way a little more, we'd be close on the scoreboard.

There are a lot of positives:

-Yarran looking confident
-Watson very impressive in his SECOND GAME
-Curnow doing some great inside work again

We are also getting lost after ball ups. Collingwood really start moving after ball ups and we are flat footed. Been our problem for years. We must work hard and get on the move around ball ups.

We have too many players at the footy, it's a disgrace, you should not see this at AFL level or any level near it. It takes 1 guy to win it and 1 guy to make a tackle, not two or 3. This is where collingwood are getting our space and where we are losing running options. Too many numbers right at the ball. spread out guys!

Sorry gang but I think Russell has been good in the backline Jameson is a major problem & always has been, Russell has made a few mistakes yes but thats because he is getting to the ball & trying his guts out to do something as opposed to Jamo who is just collecting a paycheck.

Duigan too sloppy. Goes hard at it but has fumbled constantly and has poor disposal by foot. Hopefully it improves but at the moment I'm getting images of Bannister in defence.

Very impressed with Curnow. Strong and tough, winning the hard ball and tackles well.. Thought he struggled in the preseason but along with Garlett would be close to our best in the first half.

It is only his second game but he's struggling at the moment. Better that quarter but Cloke is getting on the end of it too easily.

Duigs is picking up now... he should start affecting Krackwhore and taking him out of the game.

must say, if your going to tag Pend, fine, but ffs dont use Gibbs. Use Carrats or someone. Gibbs is the leading uncontested player in the league over the first 2 weeks, so having him tag, is counter productive

The problem is that Carazzo is tagging Shaw and getting smashed
