Well at least that confirms Craig has to play Walker at FF from now on. Did sooooooo many good things in the last quarter. Very smart player.

Yeah but he cleared Tippett right out of there, which is probably fair enough considering his game but it would be good to see Tippett play CHF (where he won't get swamped by 3 players) and Walker at FF (who has the smarts to play there).

It was good to see Walker own the forward 50, Porps played better along side Walker too. Tippett to CHF like we have all said since round one.

That Douglas holding the ball in the last quarter....

Its that sort of shit that really makes it hard for me to believe the crap umpiring is cooincidental. Alfoil hat time.

It was more the HTB not called on the North player before hand then straight away call one one Douglas. If it was a ball up from the Douglas one it wouldn't have been such a huge deal. Still, was a particuarly poor umpiring display tonight. Nothing to do with our dismal performance bar the last 30 minutes.

Yeah Tippett roaming around the 50 would be much better. He leads quite well and his contested marking is fantastic but because he demands a taller player who he is generally quicker than he's a good candidate for that position. Where as Walker has 10 times the IQ of Tippett in the FF position and brings the ball to ground in a way where our crumbers can do something positive with it. It's not rocket science Neil!

So dissappointing..

So many players were just rubbish for three quaters, and players who are meant to be our prime movers.

It appears to me that the structure and game plan are such a heavy burden for the players to carry. They appear to be concentrating so hard on executing it that they forget to actually enjoy themselves, which puts even more pressure on them.

I don't car if NC stays or goes, however a change is needed, NC surely can see this. We appear to have players carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders, NC needs to lessen that load.

just listen to ******ed apologists and sycophants tell us how close we got, and how it was our best performance of the year. How our comeback shows we have heart and how the players love craigy.

I guarantee it. :D

Won't hear it from me, your resident sycophant and habitual apologist. A win tonight - as nice as it would have been - after being 8 goals down at 3/4 time would have applied a bandaid to a bleeding artery. Better not to gloss over what is clearly a serious problem. Will be very interesting to see what Craig does from here.

fair play. :thumbsu:

Where was that effort in the first three quarters?!

North's rotations started to bite in the last, they missed Hale, had nothing to do with our effort, North ran out of legs and all of sudden we were able to dictate how we wanted to play rather than struggle with how our opposition force us to play, North's zone and frontal pressure went out the window in the last and it opened up, just like last week.

Forget the umpiring, forget the excuses the game was lost in the first 20 minutes when we were playing like millionaires but could not convert.
Exactly right. If we could have even put 3 or 4 goals on the board then, the players might have had some confidence, and actually attacked for the whole game, instead of the last 15min. And can someone tell me why Reilly stood there for 5 seconds with 30 seconds left, instead of bombing it long? Surely a guy with that experience knew there wasn't much time left.

If they are that mentally weak, they don't deserve to play.

So we have our opposition's legs to thank for two somewhat impressive last quarters in the past two weeks  :(

what you thought it was something else? South Adelaide would have run over Richmond's kids last week, and North just stopped zoning tonight because they couldn't get to the right spots anymore.

a decent team that remains 22/22 for the majority of the game are going to towel us up.

Tippett was non-existent, Davis was non-existent after quarter time, Dangerfield (though he tried hard in the first half) dropped off completely after half time, Maric/Tippett both got owned by Todd Goldstein alone, Vince was useless till the last quarter, Porpz only showed up in the last quarter (though they were both amazing marks/goals), and Reilly/van Berlo/Douglas were all not helpful, especially Douglas with 4 behinds, but especially Reilly with his horrible turnovers by foot.

only reason our backline, which includes some of our youngsters, racked up the possessions, is because of our constant switching of play and kicking backwards. i saw a passage of play between Jaensch, Bock and Schmidty, which saw Bock take about 4 marks, and the ball being kicked between Jaensch/Bock 2-3 times...and Jaensch was even calling for the ball back as soon as he'd kicked it to Bock; i mean what purpose does that serve, other than to waste time and gather up stats?

Kangas were missing Anthony, Adams, Warren, Campbell, McIntosh and Hale...and we still got smashed in the first three quarters, and it seemed the only reason we came back in the final quarter was possibly because North Melbourne dropped off completely (just like Richmond last week).

disappointing to see that the club has moved backwards...McLeod and Goodwin are forced to play in the midfield again, now that the up and coming younger midfielders are all going backwards... Vince is no way near last year's form, vB just doesn't seem to do anything useful, while Reilly showed today that he is absolutely useless. our midfield is struggling big time at the moment. we're missing Thompson, Mackay, Symes, etc, but another factor is that we haven't drafted many midfielders in recent drafts (because of how good talls will be hard to come by later)... well, at this rate, we really can't afford to let McLeod or Goodwin retire...they're still too important. Edwards and Doughty can go though, while Reilly can go back and get some form in the SANFL.

good note though: i thought Petrenko played fairly well, same with Schmidt, Rutten, and Bock. Armstrong didn't do much wrong, and despite Walker's shaky start (not unexpected considering his drop in confidence with Craigy favouring Burton and not giving Walker a real go), Walker really dominated the forward 50. Walker is better suited to FF, but i don't think Tippett can kick well enough to be a CHF. they both play their best footy at FF.

Good analogy.

The Crows players didn't play very well for most of the match with few exceptions.

The Crow's coaching panel didn't seem to have made any intelligent input, either.

The umpires made more than their usual tally of mistakes, but if they are officiating your junior game next week (as they should be) please forgive them.

North Melbourne Football Club players and coaching staff did well, and won the 4 points.

Well, it was a bit of both. Certainly our youth and the limited bench made a difference, but you guys upped the ante too.

Regardless, good to finally have a win against you guys and to have a coach willing to play for a win rather than defend against one.
