Like the sound of Ted Richards little brother Xavier. Inconsistent at this stage but Ted was a late bloomer too.

I'm guessing someone else will think likewise and take him first. Could even be the Swans if Ted puts in a good word.
He was up for the draft last year wasn't he? I remember there being good wraps on him then too - Not sure why he was passed over

Really hope we can grab one of stringer or Menzel but would be satisfied with garner or garlett.

Fwiw my predicted top 16 looks something like this..

1. Gws- Whitfield
2. Gws - toumpas
3. Gws- Grundy
4. Melb- wines
5. Wb- stringer (slim chance could slide due to injury concerns)
6. Wb- o'rourke
7. Pa- macrae
8. Bris- garlett
9. Rich- Vlastuin
10. Ess- daniher
11. Carl- plowman
12. Gws- Menzel (fingers crossed tippet gets thrown into the draft as this is where gws will take him)
13. Gc- Mayes
14. Gws- Clurley
15. Nm- Simpson
16. Geel- garner

Might be wishful thinking but I can see it happening. Tippett nominating of the national draft instead of the preseason draft and going to GWS with pick 3, Melbourne losing all picks in the first 3 rounds (including Viney, harsh but could happen). So in effect moving us up a few picks, with the draft panning out something like:

1. GWS - Whitfield
2. GWS - Toumpas
3. GWS - Tippett
4. WB - Wines
5. WB - O'Rourke
6. PtA - Grundy
7. Bris - Plowman
8. Rich - Mayes
9. Ess - Daniher
10. Carl - Viney
11. GWS - Clurey
12. GC - Stringer
13. GWS - Menzel
14. NM - Vlastuin
15. Geelong - Kennedy/Garlett/Garner etc.

Gets us a bit closer to the talent, and there is always bound to be 1 or 2 bolters and/or sliders so we may just end up with Menzel or Stringer (dreaming a touch), but it all depends on how the AFL decide to punish Melbourne and what Tippett decides to do.

Sorry, did it in a rush. You can stick Macrae in there somewhere which pushes another one out to us. With Viney I don't really know who would pick him where but I don't care either as long as its pushing another kid out to our pick. The fact is it will push another 3 kids out to our pick if this scenario happens.

Dude, Viney is a FS pick at Melbourne's pick 26.

Not if Melbourne get stripped of draft picks he's not.

That would certainly benefit us. Not only would Melbourne lose pick 4 (pushing the available list of kids up to us by one place), but if they cannot take Viney he will certainly go in the top ten which allows another draftee to slip.

However, its highly unlikely to happen (at least in this draft) as the AFL Commission is meeting on Nov 19 and Melbourne then have 7 days to dispute the findings. As the draft is on Nov 22, the penalties will not be official until at least 4 days after.

I don’t believe Melbourne will lose their picks in this year’s draft and I expect both Stringer and Menzel to be gone by our first pick. I see it going something like this:

1. GWS – Lachlan Whitfield
2. GWS – Jimmy Toumpas
3. GWS – Jonothan O’Rourke
4. MELB – Brodie Grundy
5. WBD – Jake Stringer
6. WBD – Ollie Wines
7. PTA – Sam Mayes
8. BRIS – Lachlan Plowman
9. RICH – Jackson Macrae
10. ESS – Joe Daniher (F/S)
11. CARL – Mason Shaw
12. GWS – Jesse Lonergan
13. GC – Taylor Garner
14. GWS – Troy Menzel
15. NTH – Nick Vlastuin
16. GEEL – Kristian Jaksch
17. FREM – Josh Simpson
18. COLL – Dayle Garlett
19. COLL – Tom Clurey
20. ADEL – Ben Kennedy
21. COLL – Sam Colquhoun
22. WBD – Tim Membrey
23. SYD – Nicholas Graham/Nathan Hrovat

Thanks for the dates Jazz, suspected something like that would happen - investigation findings come too late to punish Melbourne at this year's draft.

Yeah I think it is kinda wishful thinking at this point to contemplate the Dees losing picks. If it happens then so be it.
There should still be some decent talent available and good players have a habit of sliding due to injury/fitness/size doubts that some teams have. Kennedy might be considered too small? Stringer and Menzel's Health? We have picked up the likes of Selwood (dodgy knees?), Christensen (too fat?), Vardy (undersized ruckman?), Hamling (too skinny?) and Kersten (undersized key forward?) later in the draft than was expected because of teams doubts. Hopefully this continues ;)

Kennedy has Hawthorn written all over him. Raking left boot who hits targets....let's get him and piss them off. :p

Seriously, Kennedy is a bit underrated around here from what I've seen. The kid can play. There are others I prefer to him but I wouldn't be upset if we got him.

You've sold me then. Must continue causing trouble for Hawthorn :p

I do really think Kennedy can play.

I just hope we go best available midfielder-I'm much more confident in the quality of the mids than the talls so I'd rather we didn't reach for a tall at 16.

Yeah he was.
"That perseverance proved crucial when Richards missed out on being drafted last year. After being overlooked, Richards said he never gave up on his AFL dream and focused on two things - gaining strength and improving his composure.

"Last year, I was told by some [AFL] clubs that they wanted me to improve my composure - when I had the ball in traffic I'd sometimes cough it up and you just have to have better ball security … so something I've really worked at this year has been my composure," he said.

He also found a second home in the weights room, stacking on 7kgs to reach 89kg."

On James Stewart, he sounds like another Josh Walker type. Both originally midfielders but after a growth spurt became a key position player. I notice they have his draft range around the 50-60 mark and name us at pick 59. Obviously forgot we traded that pick to GC as part of the Caddy deal.

I wouldn't be surprised though if we don't even bother to go for a tall. We aren't exactly short on them with Brown, Walker, Kersten and Hamling waiting in the wings. With possibly Bathie and Blicavs as well, though they are more projects than sure things. But Pods has only a year left most likely, Loners will be 29, Rivers is 28 and Taylor will be 27 so it would provide cover long term. But it's also a lot of young bigs we would have to develop at the same time and there's only so many spots in the VFL side.

Me too...looking at all the videos i can find on players, this little guy looks very good to me. Very very quick and has a great left foot delivery, and can kick it long too.

He's short (174) but I doubt that will worry Wells. Won't be complaining if he wears the hoops.

That's very short, an inch shorter even than Chrisso and Stokes.

I also just watched the highlights of Kennedy. The little guy can play. A Ball magnet with plenty of skill. He might be short but looks and sounds like he makes up for it with pace and athleticism. How much pace though is a little hard to tell. Because of his size I can imagine he might still be available at 16. Garlett is another possibility. Question marks over his behaviour could see him still at 16. Either way I think we are gonna get a good player with our first pick.

this years draft looks to be deep and any player selected upto 25 looks the goods.

They said this years along with next years was going to be full of quality and we are currently seeing it with all the kids currently in the mix.

1. Early on every year, including this year, we hear how exceptionally deep this year's draft is going to be.
This is hype coming from the Producer Industry, the blokes running the TAC Cup (and its so-called "Clubs") and the associated Draft Industries, justifying their salaries as producers of the fodder for the AFL.
It might or might not be true in any given year.
2. Closer to the draft date each year, including this year, we start to hear how shallow this year's draft is.
This is self-serving nonsense from the Consumer Industry, ie the AFL Club Recruiting Departments, protecting themselves in advance from any backlash by the members when it turns out that they have stuffed up.
It might or might not be true in any given year.
