Review Geelong + Chris Scott make another Prelim at Ports expense

It's not just a simple tag job it's a specialist job Bews does you have to be able to read the pack at the stoppage close to the opposition goal at ball up or throw in be aware of your players strengths be goal side know where the blocks and screens will come from and from whom as well as looking to clear the ball yourself it takes great concentration and strength.

We saw with Papley how he can just be too clever for an inexperienced player like Mullin. Jed knows all the tricks, which can be as important as leg speed.

Mullin is absolutely rapid though, so light on his feet, he has more potential than I thought.

Stewart for Tuohy.

Then you are looking at Mullin or SDK as sub. I would go SDK.

Think Bews will be required with our possible opponents all having very dangerous smalls.

I think SDK will be required as a KPD. Sydney (Amartey & McDonald), GWS (Hogan & Cadman), Carlton (McKay & Curnow) and Brisbane (Hipwood & Daniher) all have decent two-prong tall KPF set ups. We could stick with Blitz down back, though.

Anyone else just riding a wave of happiness, shock and amazement this morning?

I have had 5 hours sleep, I have been at work for 90 mins so far and all I have achieved is loading up the apprentice with jobs so that he leaves me alone
I cannot focus at all. Just buzzed

Even better when you live in the city of churches, today is going to be a good day this next fortnight is going to be choice.
I'm a delivery driver for a company and a few of our client's are port supporters out the n/east, as little as a smile at them is going to be so deflating.
My colleagues stopped texting me after time. I'm going on a boys weekend tomorrow too with Port fans. Will be brilliant.

Then assuming the VFL team wins... they play again next week and try to do it again.

I love the big fella, always have, always will, but I'm hoping he decides to help the kids out and politely declines if Scott comes knocking on his door.

Our forward structure looks far more agile, unpredictable and dangerous in his absence, and that's not a knock on Hawkins.

Hawkins doesn't move that well anymore, and his presence would cause the boys to just bomb it on his head, which is far too easily repelled.

I prefer the chaos that the movement of Cameron, Neale, Mannagh, Miers, Close and Dempsey creates.

Yes, I’m probably underrating his performance. It will be interesting assuming Stewart is right to return which way they go. And also whether SDK is also looked at. Don’t envy our selection committee. Going to be a couple of unlucky players.

I think the back line looks better with bews. We need an experienced small lock down defender. Mullins can be taken to the cleaners by good players and Humphries is better used elsewhere
Humphries is a very good player. His trade value is worth near two late first round picks now. His upside is enormous.

I have to admit I thought Sav did well dragging Henry away from the forward line and he did some solid marking around the ground …the problem and much like JHF is that he did nothing when he did get it

Regarding the bold - is that Henry or Ratugolea who did the solid marking around the ground?

The Henry brothers finished with 4 marks each for the night, while Ratugolea had a solitary mark to go with 6 disposals - I actually forgot he was playing, and I'm pretty sure that at ones stage the commentators even called him Allir

Or do you mean marking as in his work around the ground and matching up on Henry?

Lack of sleep but yeah I though sav work around the ground was ok I think but he just didn’t do anything imo despite trying hard and getting to the right spots

I love that Scott shows his emotion when he's in the coaches box & that he's unapologetic for doing so

**** wanting coaches to be robots & straight faced all the time - let them enjoy themselves and watching their team

The day we stop seeing the emotion from Scott will be the day he knows it's time to walk away - but until then, we have the best coach in the league, and let's make sure we keep getting the right support around him because he has repeatedly shown he & his group know how to get the best out of this squad

Port Adelaide out in straight sets.! There is no accountability in that team. A good Victorian club beats a good interstate club when the going gets tough. To dish that up in front of your home crowd is a disgrace. No way they are beating Hawks or Dogs.!

Putting our historically best runner in Blicavs on Dixon was just cruel. He could barely move and it showed.
But that's finals footy. Find a weakness and ruthlessly expose it. '07 we did that in Archer's last game.

Said that to my kid while we were watching the game; Dixon going into the ruck with Blicavs was always going to be a big win for us.
Blicavs drifted forward, he drifted back, he drifted everywhere while all Dixon could do was throw the odd cheap shot.

I'd almost have Mannagh BoG yesterday... Right up there he was.

Either Mannagh or Holmes BOG for me.

Funny one, because Stengle & Miers both (rightfully) pinched goals off Mannagh that were right on target. If Mannagh finished with 23 and 5 rather than 23 and 3 he'd probably unanimously be considered clear BOG.

Esava only managed 1 mark for the game Strange Cat.
Henry played really, really well again btw; his 2nd half of the season has been monumental.

There was one point in the 3rd at about the 50m mark where sav had the ball and was being pursued by a couple of defenders.

My first instinct was that the right decision was to let him have a kick at the goals because it was less dangerous than the ball spilling to Rioli.

Epilogue: Rioli kicked the goal

I’m not saying he didn’t I’m saying sav’s movements and efforts around the ground wasn’t as bad as it’s being made out to be imo

Just ineffective
