Ultimate the difference is that the Carlton medical report said that Kreuzer was concussed, while Danger played out the match and there's been no reports of concussion

Penalties are based more on the outcome than the action
Unfortunately correct. When it should not be. The AFL takes a stand and the resulting actions are hollow and inconsistent.

I'm not sure the following is an official AFL announcement - reads more as a line in a Fox Footy article based on the first month of the new fixture rather than confirmation from the AFL. And if the club has given their ok to play in a hub, then they'd most likely be aware it'd mean playing a home game while in the hub:

Geelong is also set to play all of its home games in 2020 at Kardinia Park.

The Cats are usually told to host games in Melbourne against the bigger Victorian clubs - either at Marvel Stadium or the MCG - which has been a source of consternation for years.

But Chris Scott’s side will host Hawthorn at the Cattery in Round 2, the first games back since the AFL went on hiatus.

And when you then go to a different article on the issue:

Still, AFL fixture boss Travis Auld warned if crowds are to return in 2020, Geelong’s home-ground advantage may be short-lived.

“It certainly does (change things),” he said.

“If we have the opportunity for crowds to come back at some point in the year things like timeslots, venues, school holidays, all these things become really important again.

“The beauty of releasing the fixture in small blocks means you can pivot really quickly and start addressing those priorities.”

We headed to Sydney in round 1 - our trips out West weren't until rounds 3 & 6

Not sure a trip to play GWS will save us from further interstate travel this season
Don't know why I thought we went to the west game one I could claim it was a while back but more likely dementure

No surprise burgoyne got off. Protected species. You can tell as soon as the commentators defended him.

Danger was stunned, you could see he was groggy when he got up. Imagine if it was hawkins on burgoyne. Life ban lol.
While we are playing spot the difference between Dangerfield and Burgoyne,I do recall medical professors and such like coming out of the wood work to make sure the AFL took a stance on Dangerfield and the sling tackle, have the same ones been vocal this time around?

So once they allow crowds of 40k or more they'll move all our home games away from KP. Well done AFL.
I think we've just got to accept that whatever generates revenue must be the go to.
I'd have no issue with marvel being used for as many clubs as possible this year if it saves cash.

That's not enough reason to start barracking for a 'second wave', is it? Coz I'm, you know, a bit hesitant. I want a pint! At a pub!! With other people!!!

I think if this rule stays like this for a little while I wouldn’t be surprised if we see the WB, STK, NM and Melbourne all playing
home games down at KP.
Any money made for clubs who aren’t as financially as stable as others makes sense to me

I don’t feel so bad about the covid-belly I’ve developed, knowing that Gary Ablett has developed one too.
Brownless on the sunday footy show said because he won’t be playing midfield, he has been trying to get stronger/bulkier to help him play that small forward role. Stronger hamstrings especially after he had a few hamstring issues late last season.

I'm thinking we may go in unchanged this week.
Rohan or Guthrie are the two possibly under threat from Steven.
Bews or Henry from Clark.
Ratugolea from Jenkins but he's injured I believe.
Yeah looks like a no change to me.

Guthrie was very good...no chance of him being replaced.

Always sensational to smash Hawthorn, but having slept on it, think that result might say more about them than it does us. Their recycled players were woeful and the decision to play such a tall backline backfired.

Also I have to say its weird seeing people smash Sav, not like Tom Hawkins had a great game. Think they'll persist with him because of his ruck work.
Our game style was different...much more olay on,versus mark,go back and kick. This created overlap and a more open fowardline. So yes, Hawthorn bad,but we also structured up and hope CS has made a permanent game plan change

I think it actually would be pretty hard. Systems like that generally need a measureable trigger condition that the software understands and I can't see how we get that from anything other than raw video data. When triggered from raw video feed it still needs to be looking for specific things. There's just way too many degrees of freedom in the input data. You'd find that the crowd noise would end up being way quieter for any side wearing red based purely on the suns matches data input, you'd need to remove all the Adam Goodes games where he was booed or you'd likely get an algorithm that just randomly booed players with dark skin, advertising on the barriers would end up being a trigger.

I honestly think it's the kind of project that you could sink 5 years and millions of dollars into and you'd end up with a worse system than the current.

I think if you really want to improve on the crowd noise the only way to do it without crowds is to take the current system and instead of having one person with a dial, pick 50 members a week from the home side and say 20 from the away side and give them all dials which control 1/70th of the full volume. Make sure they can hear each other too. You could spend 5 years on an algorithm and it likely wouldn't beat that system
Simple solution.
A) a button on the AFL app that allows you to cheers, boo, say Ball etc
B) a mic on the app so you can cheers and boot from home and that gets mixed
Both are broadcast in real time

Dumb question: do we know yet whether we're one of the teams who gets nine home games or whether we'll only have eight? Has that fixture detail been released yet?
We are getting "big" teams at KP. Not a chance in hell the AFL give us 9 games there as well.

none.
nada
zip.
Null.
Kaput.

Olay on??

No wonder we looked so fresh 😂

Sorry.

I don't think there's any chance whatsoever we get crowds of 40k this season, McLachlan said only a few days ago that best case scenario for the grand final in late October would be a crowd of 30k.

The way to do it is have samples of pre recorded key events triggered by something like a Native Instruments Maschine Controller:
Calls of “Ball”, “Yess!!” Disappointment of a missed shot etc.
Team chants e.g. “Geeelong” post goal
Goal reactions of course
Crowd noise with cross-faded samples that are triggered by the volume of the commentator’s call. The louder he/she gets, the more excited the crowd noise is.
Would require one operator with footy knowledge once it was set-up.

I thought he was alright but Steven might add more I took a closer look at Guthrie the way he's being used after someone here posted he broke even with Mitchell in fact Selwood took Mitchell for nearly all the time he was on the ground, now I didn't start the exercise until about 10 minutes into the first quarter when I first saw Guthrie he may have started on the bench and have yet to re watch the last quarter,These are the players Guthrie stood at the center bounce and stoppages in that time in rough order.
Mitchell,Smith,Worpel,Henderson,Wingard,Burgoyne,Shiels,Breust,O'Brien,Breust,Mitchell,Wingard,Breust,Breust,Burgoyne,so no defined tag or run with role, as he dropped off and ran free from each play and Hawthorn were happy to let that happen they never sent anyone to him.Again he had 16 possessions for 60mtr gained and didn't hit the score board, for a mid in his prime I'd be asking for more and giving others a go if it's not forthcoming.
As a side note to the above if the opposition are prepared to let him run free un checked you think the coaching staff would take advantage of that and get him to run forward of the pack and get used in the forward 50 instead of taking up a position in no mans land.
