Bahaha... U made me spill my coffee.
That is the funniest thing i've read on here, well... since the JJ is a better option than Sav post.
Every player under heat tends to do what u say.
But Blitz does that with no pressure and misses the mark by 20 metres plus lol.
Geelong is actually very lucky that defenders turn it over under pressure, it's a big factor in how we win games.

Get your facts straight pal, strad was claiming he JJ, would lay 0 tackles compared to a Foggy, l said apples to oranges, go back to sleep.
Strad better not be me coz I didn’t say shit about Jenkins.

Well u were replying to my comment.
Couldnt give a Rats about others.
Stick with lemons and passionfruit Champ. You'll have more luck i'm betting.
Cheers and move on before u make a bigger fool of yourself.

Well you should "give a rats about others"
obviously you're pretty narrow.

This might not be a popular opinion, but I kinda feel we've found the perfect balance of talls right now.
Our backline looks absolutely rock solid in the air, and when the midfield pressure the ball like they have done recently, then we ensure the opposition can't hit up those short leads, half of the "tall" backline are very adaptable in terms of who they can play on, all of Kolo (whose a weaklink for mine), Stewart, MoC and Henry can play on mediums or even smalls if needed, and forward I really like the setup with Rohan and Hawkins only, with Blicavs (whose playing this role brilliantly right now) as a tall back/second ruck behind Stanley.
Personally I wouldn't bring in Sav, or any other tall.
It should be a popular opinion.

Taylor, Henderson, Kolo, Henry, Stewart, Merrick and Bews is a seven that matches up well on virtually any opposition attack. The first four can play tall and the last four can play small. They are frugal but their versatility is also a real asset. They are also all playing with great cohesion now.

On the rucks, we have to acknowledge that Sav will be tried again. It shouldn’t really change how the back six works though.

LOL. I guess we'll put it down to the drink... burp!!
Coz i can't see where he pulled that ripper from MacS.. weird.
It’s the good thing about footy hey, we all here barrack for the same team but see things very very differently. Pretty sure Ratcat used to champion Ryan Abbott too( apologies if not true), I thought he was a glorified country footballer. As I said we all see it differently, I am reminded weekly at the moment by my young fella about Menegola’s form!

Whose average is better? Stanley or Ratugolea? Hard call.
Rhys is all over Sav in every stat. Disposals, disposal efficiency, hitouts, clearances, score involvements, meters gained, marks, goals, one percenters -pretty much everything except tackles. it is no coincidence our current vein of form coincides with Stanley's return. He wont get many plaudits for his game last night, but he was effective at nullifying the impact of Lycett and Two Metre Peter and our third highest clearance winner behind Blicavs and Danger.

Sav is exciting, and should get a run in some of the games ahead - but he is not a like for like replacement for Stanley.

Rhys Stanley is close to our most important player after Hawk. Changes our whole set up if he’s not there.

Steven, Ratugolea and Dahlhaus will all be playing when fit and ready.
And ZGuthrie is probably the next cab off the rank after them.
Add Ablett to that list when he's available.
Players I expect to get games, in addition to those, are Clark, Narkle, Close, Jenkins and <redacted>.

Serious, how good is it being a cats supporter. With or without premierships gee we get some regular thrills. Fully understand some only judge success on flags but it is an entertainment industry and we get a shitload of entertainment year to year when everything is factored against it. Remember this is the year we are supposed to be falling off the cliff...or was it last year 🤔

Hear hear. 17 other clubs' supporters would love to have as many weekly wins as we get - let alone the finals we compete in, let alone the flags

Very few would admit to it - it all comes out sideways for oppo supporters

1. There's been a few distinct changes this year, or more particularly over the course of the last 4 or so weeks and it relates to our ball movement. It's still slow at times but it's now more direct. No longer are we selling teammates into trouble with handball by going backwards or sideways to stagnant players, it's done in a more thourough way. We're moving forward to receive rather than being stationary. It's proactive movement rather than reactive. Our midfield are running harder and they're running both ways.
It's surprising given the short turnaround in games but we're now fitter than we've ever been and some credit must go to the fitness staff.

2. Our midfield depth. No longer do we need Selwood and Dangerfield to have huge games to win. The step up in performance from our 2nd tier mids like Menegola, Guthrie, Parfitt, Duncan and to a lesser extent (over the last 3 weeks) fogarty. They're all having career best seasons. It's not just the numbers it's moreso the pressure they're all applying. Our opponents just have no time to move the ball forward with any fluency and it's giving our defence stacks of time to get into position to make it difficult for the forwards. I can't believe I wanted Guthrie dropped or traded. Gone are the short steps and lack of defensive efforts ... he's murdering the oppositions best mid each week and finding the ball himself. I'd be interested to see his metres gained in comparision to his careeer numbers. He appears more direct now.

3. Tuohy. Playing further up the ground. It's the best footy I've seen him play for a while.

4. Having Rhys Stanley back in the side. He's our best ruckman plain and simple.

5. Blicavs. Some of the things he did last night, not only to get the ball, but once he had it were simply amazing. The form of Henderosn allows him to play as that tall midfieder and his ball use has improved out of sight over the last 3 weeks.

6. This one I feel is one of our most important improvements and will raise some eyebrows. Jed Bews off half back. He is now providing run and drive and it's something I've wanted to see for quite some time. He hits the contest hard. He's a completely different player. We have O'Connor to shut down the dnagerous smalls ... keep Bews in that role he's transforming in front of our eyes and a lot of it will have gone unnoticed I feel.

7. Our confidence and belief. It's sky high.

The bolded is the key IMO and you've nailed it here.
The work rate of teamates to create space for the ball carrier and or possessor to go to is the key. And that comes from work rat eand effort and being proactive. Rarely last few weeks have I seen a GFC player waiting for the ball - they are moving towards it.

And the fitness staff making the boys work deeper into the endurance cycle is helping massively.

GO Catters

Don’t know if I imagined it last night but it seemed like Stanley did less “jumping” at the centre square bounces and more sort of locking up with Lycett. Or maybe Lycett was trying to nullify Stanley’s jump.

Either way Stanley was pretty effective and we definitely controlled the middle.

Dahlhaus is a lock best 22, I don't care how well we're playing.

I think the people that were smashing Tuohy and Menegola last year have now moved on to Dahl as the senior whipping boy.

In modern AFL you don't have 22 superstars out there for you.

None of Atkins, Fogarty, Simpson or Close offer more than him overall in the defensive forward role at this stage.

Well who do i pat on the back? everyone has been done except the water boys, i just want to say every time they ran out you could see the pain they pushed through great job boys
These two:

They were rock solid. Held their position all night and never lost to their opponent.

Yep, and I was one who smashed Menegola and wanted to trade him for Steven at the end of 18'.

But his work both offensively and defensively for the majority of this season has been excellent.
