he hasnt re-signed yet but seems pretty keen to
south barwon have offered big money at him though

josh gray, zac host, cain and dave mcfarlane and 1 or 2 more are all leaving st.albans and heading down to torquay. all were probaly not up to gfl seniors standards anymore so its just leaving more spots for the younger ones to get a game.

Probably three of the worst footballers going around, Josh Gray would be the only one to get close to getting a game at Torquay and even that is suspect. The rest will be average two's players at best.

yeah exactly, you cant be 2 good if your struggling to get a game in our seniors lol

Yeah look he's probably played to much in lower leagues eg- Belmont,Modda,Forrest or somewhere in the CDFL but he is a very talented footballer who did play for the North Ballarat tac team so he could be a good get if he decides to have a real crack, which he'd have to do if he decides to play GFL.

Simpson was the CDFL team with Peter McVilly then to modda then he went back to play at Stawell in the wimmera league and had time off to get his dodgy knees fixed. No doubt can play but unsure about GFL level. Extremelly good hands and reliable kick however they always float sideways but it doesn't matter how they get there aye :D

That is the first injury that has been reported in about 25 years at west oval.
There has been more injuries with other grounds and blokes getting tackled and thrown into fences too close to the boundary line.
St Albans has a concrete gutter 2 metres from the boundary line which is more dangerous than the bike track.
The comments made in the paper about the bike track were sensationalised.
Feel sorry for the young man who broke his wrist but the actual bike track has been dubbed safer than having the fence too close to the boundary line.
I agree with TF, finals should be held at a venue with atmosphere.
Skilled is a good ground but no atmosphere

Have you seen there recent record in regards to recruitment? Narowki, Potter etc.. - It sounds so stupid it would almost be true of St Albans.
use all seem to know who st.albans is trying to recruit... yet none of use are even close to knowing what we are getting.

and as for who ever said that we were throwing big money at the bell park fringe players you literally couldnt be any further from the truth

which is why the boundary line was moved in 2 metres this season, it is now about 3-4 metres away from it.

Given your clubs brilliant recruiting over recent years it woluldn't come as much surprise if you's were throwing big coin at fringe/reserve players from other clubs. Mate its common knowledge that St Albans pay overs on players and where's that got the club?? About 3 wooden spoons in 5 years and pea hearted "footballers" like Potter,Watts,Nawrocki etc doing an injustice to your once proud jumper.

im not saying that over the last few seasons that we havent made a fair few bad recruitments but i think you will be suprised by how well we go next year,

im also not saying that we will finish top 5 but i believe that we will get at least 7 wins.

mate i have heard this from one of the players themselves so i wont be eating anything...

unless you dont think $300 a game plus a fair sign on is big coin for a fringe player?

I wouldnt doubt this as Pete Davenport obviously played at Bell Park and he does have the cash to throw at blokes

SuperSaint can you confirm or deny that the St Albans playing group had a meeting amongst themselves regarding the appoinment of Davenport as coach?? Have heard majority of the group aren't happy with the appointment and have threatend a mass walk out.

This keeps coming up in almost every conversation. Some of the players in question are surprising also. Not so much that they are/were stars, moreso the fact that many of them are "heart & soul" type club people.......

Incorrect TF.........A couple of the senior group (previously named) weren't happy & they've sinced moved on, the rest of the playing group have signed on for 2010-11. Also heard the disgruntled few weren't happy about the skipper (Grey) not being promised the little (c) beside his name next year which may also have had something to do with it.

Be interesting to see where those 7 wins will come from. I'm sure you will only play North Shore twice at most. From what I've seen you would have to turn it around an unbelievable amount to even beat GWSP or Lara. Half the problem isn' the coach out that way; it's the recruiting team. Can't see that changing. Must be the same panel they've had for the past 20 years because they obviously still recruit like it's 1988.

which was the last time they won a flag!:D

An interesting comment you make Brown Sugar:

"...what I've seen you would have to turn it around an unbelievable amount to even beat GWSP or Lara..."

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't St Albans clobber Lara by 80 points at some stage? Now I'm not saying that the Saints don't need to improve, but saying that they'd be lucky to beat Lara is nonsensical. Furthermore, I believe that there were a number of close calls for St Albans during the year:

Rd 1 - St Albans 81 Leopold 99
Rd 2 - St Albans 70 Grovedale 129 (Saints 3 points down 5 mins into 4th quarter)
Rd 3 - St Albans 63 GWSP 86
Rd 5 - St Albans 51 Newtown 64 (led all day)
Rd 9 - St Albans 72 Lara 100
Rd 14 - St Albans 75 Newtown 85

There's 6 very winnable games - even if they'd only won 4 of them it'd be 6-12 and perhaps not a bad season considering. To say they're miles behind the fringe finals clubs is silly. If they add a couple of harder quality midfielders and a key forward and back, I wouldn't have thought that 7-9 wins is impossible.

I guess the question is, who are the guys they will be recruiting? All cards are pretty close to the chest down there at the moment...

If St Albans are throwing money at a BFL reserves ruckman then they are in big trouble. A guy who cant even get a game in an average BFL teams senior side surely could not cut it at GFL level. Surely this cant be right.

It's not that he can't get a game at Heads, he doesnt have the ticker to do so. Like I said previously he only has a kick for a bit of fun. He was getting asked all the time to play 1's for Heads but didn't want to because for one reason he didn't like the coach at all. Don't you worry the boys that know have been giving him a baking over it as he declined good coin.
