This thread could only have been started by a Richmond supporter
If that Richmond fan was living in Adelaide, that would make more sense.

Richmond didn't make finals, living in Adelaide can be boring.

The OP must be bored and have plenty of time to spare

Ess hasn’t won a final in 20 years I think you really underestimate how good Chris Scott and the club is
Agreed 👍 💯.

Cats recruited Chris Scott from the dockers of all places.

Some dockers fans wished we didn't make finals in 2010 and wished Chris Scott took over from Mark Harvey.

So you want money from two state governments now. That's just greedy.

Not even remotely similar. Hawthorn's deal with Tassie is first and foremost a jumper sponsorship, and a modest fee for doing 4 games a year away. It's a commercial arrangement which has paid for itself ten-fold for Tassie's now booming tourism market (which used to be, pardon the expression, off the map) We'll be moving on in 3 or 4 years, having had a beneficial impact for both sides.

Geelong is given massive amounts of investment into the stadium, while not paying their way on a stadium taxpayers built for them, meaning they are effectively gifted all gate receipts at each home ground. It has negligible benefit to any taxpayers, let alone the productive parts of the state, but makes the city feel successful rather than a backwater.
It's not that I wouldn't take that deal in a heartbeat in your position, it's just that you overestimate your utility to the community.

I think you may be over estimating how much we care.

If we held a grudge against every team that has beat us in finals we'd be holding grudges against half the league.

15 current teams and 1 defunct one have beaten Geeloss in finals. Only one team has beaten you in finals more than Richmond's 10 times, that team being Collingwood, who have beaten you 12 times. The difference is you have beaten them 14 times, but you have only beaten Richmond when it matters most twice in history. This is why Geelong supporters care enough to say they don't care so often.

Are the Geelong supporters who care in the room with us now?

Except you. And Us.

2 teams on average meet each other in a final once in about 18 years. We schooled you in 54 years worth of finals and you think you have bragging rights over us. :tearsofjoy:

While you're winning spoons and we compete for flags despite how badly you and your other ignorant dipsh!t tigs supporters told us we were going to crash after 2020 (and every other year) we will let you know about it all we like.

that's smart business by Geelong. remember prior to the turn of the century when the AFL was consolidating grounds, Geelong were offered tenancy at Docklands, and being almost broke and out of business at the time the financial offer would have been very tempting. but they decided not to and opted to develop their own ground and remain based as a team in Geelong - which btw is not part of Melbourne. it was a very smart business decision.

Yep, but morally I don’t get how you could support a club like that tbh. The flags would feel a little cheap especially with those f/s picks that they had to change the rules for.

Ethically it all seems wrong, a club playing 9 of their home games and no home finals in the city they are based in. Surely corruption is at play here.

Is the AFL looking at that in terms of change and allowing Geelong to play all Home games at GMHBA Stadium? If not, then why not? Seems fair and reasonable to me that Geelong should play all their Home Games at GMHBA?

I think the new mcg agreement they wrote pretty much precludes that outcome. Afl makes too much money selling our homes games to opposition clubs

I don’t see it changing because for the foreseeable future Geelong will probably have double ups against the big drawing Melbourne based teams. So whichever seem likely for finals. It wouldn’t surprise me if next year we are back to two Geelong/Hawthorn games at the MCG, for instance.

Now imagine you had a home game with another GMHBA tenant and thus lose your home ground advantage. That’s what MCG/Marvel/Optus/Adelaide Oval tenants deal with.

Geelong has all the H&A benefits of an interstate side whilst reaping the benefit of the vic teams being close to the MCG AND are the only country club so they have a monopoly to players who want that lifestyle and will go for unders. It can’t get anymore rigged tbh. So only having 10 flags is quite frankly a disgusting effort.

But you do you man people’s morals are different.

EDIT: I also forgot you have the mud pit with rigged dimensions.

Look I’d respect Geelong supporters more if they say “yeah we got the biggest advantage in the AFL but I don’t care”

But you also play the victim which is astounding. No shame.

We play way better at the G and Adelaide than we do in Geelong over the past few years. We haven’t been a good GMHBA side since 2019 at least.

If the MCG was our new home ground there would be even more of an advantage to Geelong, so be thankful that isn’t the case.

Yep 100% win rate in the early 2010s when you finished 6th is totally normal.
The evidence is right in your face and you know it but don’t care. It’s ok to say it.
