IT'S TIGER TIME!
Last time produced one of the greatest meltdowns of all time when the MC decided not to select Dan Menzel.
Do yourself a favour and give it a read https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/thre...d-7-50pm-friday.1175481/page-70#post-52306139

The Cats walked out onto the G to the roar of a very hostile crowd of 80,000 Tigers fans in what was to be their home final.
Selwood as the home captain was asked to decide the coin toss and it was all downhill from there.

The Cats in the first quarter were under immense pressure from the very first bounce, with the Tigers having much of the play but only 2 goals 4 behinds on the scoreboard for their dominance and the Cats
scored a total of 0 goals (first time since 1959 vs Tigers).
Second quarter produced so many dropped marks, bad decisions (Hawkins giving off to Tuohy )and no goals from the Cats until the dying minutes of the quarter.
Third quarter looked like the Cats were working their way back into the game with Richmond's run had been halted somewhat, until Guthrie got injured which released Dusty and the Cats tried to open the game up which released Richmond.
The last quarter I do not have any memory of so can't describe what happened.
Overall there were just too many passengers in the blue and white hoops.

This time:
Once again as like some kind of bad joke by the AFL the Cats host the Tigers at the MCG and we can expect the same warm welcome by the home fans as we did last September.

Form:

The Tigers form at the G has been impeccible with 8 wins, 0 losses, average winning margin of 49.6 and they have topped the tonne in every single match.
While the Cats record at the G this season has been 2 wins and 2 losses.

Key match-ups:

  • Rance vs Dangerfield: Both Danger and Hawkins are likely to be Rance's opponent, but I can see Danger making superman Rance accountable (like Taylor last year) one on one.
  • Stanley vs Toby "Bruce & Ian" Nankervis: Didn't think Smith was outclassed last year against Toby but as has been seen this year Smith has fallen out of favour with the MC. Neither ruckman have been standouts this season so expect a tight ordinary contest.
  • Blitz vs Riewoldt: Blicavs move to defence has proven to be a winner with his blanket job on Ben Brown last week and will likely be given the same task against Riewoldt who has been averaging 2.3 goals this season.
  • Ablett vs Richmond: Last time Ablett played against Richmond in the hoops was 2009 where he had 29 disposals and 1 goal. Expect more of the same.
  • Martin vs Geelong: Since the latest news is that Dusty trained with his teammates this week he is expected to play. In the midfield I would say Selwood may take him since Cam Guthrie is unlikely to play and when he goes forward Kolo should mind him.
Prediction: The Cats gameplay this year has been much different to last year with a more methodical way of moving the ball from defence to attack and as was shown last week in the Port game, this style can really frustrate the Tiges. Despite the mare against the Bombers earlier this season I think the Cats will get the job done.

Cats by 15.

Predictions:

1. Physicality against Ablett by a Richmond campaigner like Broad - they'll try to make him hurt.
2. Riewoldt to sook it up when Blitz takes him out of the game.
3. Richmond supporters to boo every touch from Selwood/Ablett/Dangerfield
4. The umpires to forget about their crusade against 'the noise of affirmation' and give plenty of frees to the Tigers
5. Richmond supporters to be absolutely insufferable regardless of the result.
6. Martin a late withdrawal

Geelong by 4....

....goals

Think number 3 is a given considering it happens at nearly every match these days, why I dont know but its bloody frustrating.

I'm sure Danger (at least) feeds off it.

They'll always say 'its because he's a flog! He's a ducker!" etc, but deep down we all know the truth.

They're envious as farrrrk!

So we'll hear about 100 boos on Sunday then? ;)

or Selwood, but they can't cover both.

It was inspiring to see Ablett lay a block for Selwood last week.

Richmond supporters are at the arse end of society and football knowledge in general. The minute you start taking anything they say seriously, or even getting affected by it, is the minute you need to start re-evaluating your life.

I think the biggest factor on Sunday won't be how the likes of Selwood, Ablett and Dangerfield play, but more to do with our inexperienced players like Henry, Fogarty, Cunico and Kelly.

If our youngsters don't get overawed by the crowd and the occasion and play like they have for the last month or so, we'll win.

Richmond simply don't have the midfield to compete with Duncan, Selwood, Ablett, Dangerfield, Kelly and Menegola. It's why they're desperate to rush Martin back.

Lets hope he pings a calf in the first 10 minutes along with Cotchin and Caddy...oh and Riewoldt to if its not too much to ask!!!

I'd have thought praying for injuries in beneath is. Leave that to Richmond and Hawthorn supporters.

If this game is over by 1/4 like so many other big games in the last few years, I will dead set lose my shit!!!!

Win lose or draw, I’m not particularly fussed.....I just want us to turn up and give a good account of ourselves.

I’m strangely confident though......Cats by 3 goals

Is it alright to pray Cuthrie isn't right for this week?
Yes. I don't rate him and don't want him in the side. He's soft and he's already injured.

Hope that clears things up.
