Not really. That’ll give the AFL more leverage to give them the best compo any club has ever got.
Exactly.

Best scenario - he's on the list another 6 years, promising AA results whilst playing 5-8 games a year.

He inherited a shocking list mate. There needed to be a rapid turnover of players in that club and he managed to make it happen quickly. He traded in a bunch of GWS talent from drafts that they'd missed due to being a poor side during the expansion concessions. It didn't quite work out, but they managed to get some really solid players in. In 2015 he managed to swing things around to get rid of cloggers and underperformers like Menzel, Yarran and Bell. They got a future 1st for Henderson. They brought in Plowman through trade, and drafted Curnow, Weitering and McKay who are all going to be really solid players for the future.

In 2016 they brought in Caleb Marchbank and Jarrod Picket through trade for hardly anything bar a future 1st from Geelong. Pickett could have been a great young player if not for injury. Petrevski-Seton and Fisher drafted in, also very promising young players.

They managed to get two first for Gibbs at 29 just before he fell off a cliff. Mitch McGovern for not much, Will Setterfield for not much, Nic Newman for not much.

It's a hard business turning over that mess they had but he's not done an awful job of it.

You sound like a true Carlton supporter.

GWS played Silvagni like a sucker - despite the fact that he’d just left GWS. The players GWS let Silvagni take to Carlton were surplus to their requirements and they were happy to clear the decks and open up their salary cap to fresh talent and experienced players.
Silvagni was able to walk into Carlton with all this fanfare of bringing exciting talent into Carlton. It was bullsh*t and the GWS people chuckled behind Silvagni’s back.

Bar the Fetish for the 23rd best giant player of the year i think Carlton have done a good job in recent times, Malthouse took a hacket to the place and as you've seen from the Demons when you do that it takes a while to recover if your turning over 40% of your list in 2 years

Silly Ch 7 announcing that a premiership Hawk is on the move....

"Yes, Brad Hill is set to leave Fremantle..." 😞😕
I thought they were referring to Jonathan Patton, who is a future premiership Hawk.

If it wasn't for the Compensation picks then Daniher would already be traded if Essendon thought they could lose him for nothing in 12 months, compensation picks are a farce, they allow clubs to manage situations poorly and they compromise drafts.

How would the AFL manipulate the system then to play favourites with certain teams... besides a FIXture, ambassadorial payments, irregular umpiring, unlikely award winners, academies...

WTF are the saints doing??
-haven't landed their big fish in brad hill
-haven't landed any of the smaller frys like Ryder, Howard, Jones

-haven't traded out Jack Steven
-haven't traded out Josh Bruce

-now i understand it's viable that they could do most/all of these trades in the last 5 minutes, but surely theres something holding the saints up and a genuine reason why they haven't got anything moving. If it was Brad Hill holding everything up, i'd forget about him and try to get Jones/Ryder/Howard/Steven/Bruce trades finalised.

They will

On another note, what the hell did North do with trading picks with Melbourne?

must be on trading happening later

They got Melbourne's future first ... that could be pick one or two next year.

Melbourne fans furious right now. Both of them.

Demons trade for North's pick 8 in this year's draft.

Kangas get Melb's 2020 1st rounder +picks 26 and 50.

Not sure what melb are doing here, are they really so confident that they'll play finals next year???

-if the Demons have another rough year and finish 13th, thats pick 6(2020) + picks 26 + pick 50 for pick 8.

Saints going to be busy in the last 48 hours....5 players have nominated and they haven't made one trade for a player....
Gives me a mental picture of their list manager chugging down an aisle in The Reject Shop with a full trolley.

Lots of Saints supporters up and about re them now being a destination club. In reality they are just paying huge overs to all their targets.
Fold Coast signed Hugh Greenwood & Brandon Ellis, does that make them a "destination club" too? 😆
