Of course it's about the money, the game will be played where the most revenue will be made.
Example:
  • GF ticket average cost $250.00 @ 98,000 = $24,500,000.00
  • Optus Stadium average cost $408.00 @ 60,000
  • Geelong stadium average cost $680.00 @ 36,000
Your average supporter finds it difficult to attend finals as it is, reduce the size of the stadium and they won't be attending anyway.

It will always be about the money, why do you think the planet is in the state it is in $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
The people in power aren't the ones who care.

It’s a juggle between the desire of one club to play a home final at their smaller ground and the desire of 50000 fans who won’t be able to get to see their team play a final.

It seems the clubs are happy to take the advantage, which they deserve but the AFL isn’t prepared to take the hit.

Funny how the AFL doesn’t mind only allocating 25,000 tickets to the 2 competing teams on grand final day or making it impossible for 15-20,000 fans to go to the games in China.

You seem obsessed with the AFL making money. Its not just that. Its the fact that Geelong make a stadium that cant even fit THEIR fans in let alone the opposition fans.

Its the same as Sydney having to play at anz stadium.. its allowing more fans get to the game.

I think you’re a bit off there, Sydney or GWS don’t play at ANZ anymore as it’s not their home ground.

some pretty ordinary stuff on the pie board re dayne beams - some seem more concerned they stuffed the trade than this bloke is suffering.........

Surely we or people can discuss both points though.

Beams issues aren’t new, so I assume Collingwood were well aware of this when the traded for Dane.

Football is pretty insignificant though when your health is in question.

It's a bit too late for these sentiments. About 40 years too late.

Not really, or we could find a better common ground.

In the UK major finals are played at the major stadium, all other fixtures are played at a teams home ground, no ifs or but’s, no interference from the governing body.

It’s a principal.

Of course we can and should.
Doesn't mean one doesn't want the best for the player/individual but also wants the best for their team.

If Collingwood did know the issues around Beams (whatever they may be) they would have had to have taken them into account.
If they didn't, then they're being negligent to the club. What's to say the the Collingwood FC was the best place for Beams regardless?

Off the scales levels of poor reasoning in this article. Shipping off Burton and a first rounder was the right decision because Wingard is the same age as Tom Mitchell, regardless of what happens from here...

All teams who qualify for a home final should be entitled to one, not at a venue forced upon you by the AFL, the responses from supporters here born out of envy are poor.

Bemoaning coaches for having an opinion and not just spewing out condescending cliches is hypocritical, good on Scott for expressing an opinion on the topic.
Sorry, but whinging should never be supported. And Scott was definitely whinging.

Not too sure how accurate reddit is.

I'd argue, though, that that'd be an achievement of its own anyway.

We're bottom 4, with a shithouse fixture (all Sunday afternoon games) and we're coming 6th for attendances having only played (of the sides that draw more crowd numbers than we have this season) Collingwood, Richmond and Essendon?

I'll take it. Plenty have been happy to write us off, to call the current circumstances creating a lost generation for Carlton, but it's always been bull.
