Been cited for it too.

He's getting a written reprimand... nice one AFL... has all the punishment power of a wet lettuce leaf. If you really wanted to make an instant statement and get others to stop staging for frees... give him a week and a 1k fine for bringing the game into disrepute.

Would be fun to open all the Jacobs threads so we can highlight their claims that Sauce wasn't any good and worth a first round pick to the Crows....

And Jacobs has proven to be an AFL standard ruckman in how many career games?!

Please, thats just talking out of your backside. He has proven nothing yet. Ben March had a much more promising start to his AFL career and we all know how that one went!

Jacobs has some value no doubt but rubbish like someone posted that because all the teams in the prelim have traded for a ruckman, Jacobs' value went up is just ridicilous! There is absolutely NO logic used to arrive at that conclusion.

Main board is talking up Ivan Maric as AA.

I hope that Ratten gets a copy of the SEN segment this afternoon with Harford and Cameron Mooney and plays it to the primma donnas.
He (Mooney) said things along the line of it was well known amongst ALL clubs Carlton were soft and that their mids ran one way and didn't like running the other way. Also questioned their heart expecially under pressure. At least he was honest enough to concede that if he had played in any other team that could not deliver the ball the way Geelong mids did he would have gotten the flick.

In my halcyon days of the 70's, 80's and 90's Geelong were the ultimate handbag team and chokers. How times have changed.....

To be perfectly honest, ratts and co look like they have invested in the wrong game plan.

The tried and true of strong, skilled players with tough contested footy of the Geelong era is back in vogue in a BIG way.

They won '07 '09 '11 with that brand of football, you look at Adelaide and Essendon and its very clear that is the path they have taken with influential Geelong people behind it.

Only Clarkson '08 with Clarkos Cluster and Malthouse '10 with his floating zone have been able to conquer it.

It will be very interesting to see if the coaching staff have the brains to try and now come up with next game changer or if they try and go back to the tough and contested footy that we excelled at last year.

My 2 cents, instead of trying to have Judd play the outside (and get a few more years out him by doing that) and having curnow and co trying to feed our outside players, get him back in the guts with whoever you like in there to win the contested ball and kill them with our spread and run.

Lets face it our time is now he is the only one that can do it on a consistent basis, hopefully ellard, robb, curnow and mclean (yes mclean) can help him out and have gibbs, simpson and co do the damage on the outside, it seems that's where they belong.

I also wouldn't mind seeing Walker in the guts, he seems to be on the angry pills atm and he might be a handy addition in the middle.

Throw Collins in as the 3rd forward and see if he sinks or swims.

I think our defence is ok (before last week 3rd least points against), but Bower should be replaced by Watson (same as Collins theory.) He may not be able to run like Bower but he has a Cannon of a leg to compensate. Replace Russell with Lucas and give him an extended run at it (again sink or swim)

So on that I'd have ins and outs for this week:

in - watson, lucas, collins, waite (if fit)
out - bower, russell, murphy, thornton (if waite is fit)

Maybe even Mclean for Curnow and if Hendo and Duigan are injured then f me I don't know what they should do....

Ratts has suggested that changes will be made, it will be very interesting to see what and who they are.....

If Judd's been playing on the outside I can't wait to see how good is he if he actually goes after the ball then

Your missing the point and have taken it literally, I'm not saying Judd is an "outside" player what Im saying is the coaching staff have been trying curnow, robbo and now ellard as the extractors. He was also leaned up in preparation for the outside roll so we could protect him and get a few more years out of him.

Judds natural instinct is to get the ball wherever it is, but what I'm saying is for HIM to stay in the middle at be the one at the bottom of packs for as long as can till he needs a rest.

We are all asking for either gibbs to harden up or curnow, ellard, robbo or mclean to be our natural extractor, but lets face it Juddy is the only natural consistent extractor we have. (hope he can get some help from players above)

I think until someone finally steps up he is our only hope of swinging the contested and clearance advantage back our way.

Was just listening to Derek Humphrey-Smith on SEN and Schwarz (will state from the outset I think he is a massive buffoon) asked a question about the umpiring in the WCE v St Kilda game. Essentially, WCE are +69 for free kicks this year.

In their 4 games at Subi they average +13 a game; in the other 4 games they average +4.

Anyways, Schwarz raised it with DHS who basically ridiculed him for bringing it up. I didn't see any of the game so can't comment. Did anyone see the game and was it that bad? Schwarz was adamant that, as an impartial observer, the bias towards WC essentially made it impossible for St Kilda to win.

Would be interested in any opinions my learned brethren would be able to offer.

PS. DHS seems to me to be a massive twit. Would not even entertain the idea there is a bias, essentially said that WC will win more frees because they're on top of the ladder...WTF? Why then do they win fewer frees away from home?

Eagles have been getting a charmed run over there for years, most of their games are umpired by WA based umpires which puts them under more pressure as they have to front up to a parochial crowd every week and the same supporters in and about town also.

Wouldn't listen to anything Humphrey Smith says anyway.

Didn't he quit because he bounced the ball worse then Ray Gabelich...

Cheers for that. The discrepancy just seemed a bit big imo, will be interesting to see if it holds up for an entire year. And yeah, haven't heard much of DHS but he did sound like a massively arrogant twat. Will avoid.

I have been to a couple of Eagles game this year and the thing I notice is not the frees the Eagles get, it is the ones the opposition don't. They also seem to get a lot of free kicks just inside the forward 50.

Rumour is Dees have offered Cloke 7 years at $1m+pa

Easiest 7 million he will ever make. Won't see much of the ball since they have no midfielders. They are paying Clarke 500K so 2 players will take up 15% of the salary cap? Hope they do the deal. Just hoping we don't have Warnock poached like we did with Jacobs. Warnock needs time and he will dominate in a few years. Big blokes always take time. Bower......on the one hand gets to the ball, knows where it is but has no composure once he gets it and turns it over. Looks like he has no peripheral vision.

I hope he stays at Collingwood - so the rest of their team know exactly who is gettign paid what and how much...every week - week in week out.

btw - I am having a lot of fun in the thread link above.

Can't imagine that any club would make offer a seven year $7million dollar contract, and equally can't imagine that a player would or could say no.

The emergence of Sidebottom must be muddying the waters at Collingwood even further...top shelf talent, producing consistently, would be comfortably in the AA side at present and still only 21. He remains unsigned doesn't he? Would have to think that one of them will be shaken loose.

Cloke, O’Brien, Shaw, Reid, Beams, Wellingham, Goldsack, Maxwell and Sidebottom are all uncontracted.

They'll probably take less money to re-sign.

Beams would be a good fit for Carlton.

I love your mettle calling them Tossers on their own forum :thumbsu::D
