Re: Trades youd like to see your team make

Would be willing to put on the table

Pearce, Carlie, Salopek (even though he just resigned), Gray (over rated cant believe some people say he is in the same category as Ablett) Broadbent

cant give away banner though, see him being the type of player who you cant believe isn't in a first midfield ( future middle of Lobbe, Hartlett Boak and Jacobs :D) see banner coming in nicely with Thomas and Dominic

Seeing that we are in line for a top ten pick, wouldn't be wanting to give that away even for a Griffin/Gibbs.

Thinks the list is is looking alright if we draft another KPP to assist, especially if butcher falls through

Now anyone want our coach????

What do you want for Pearce?

Re: Trades youd like to see your team make

Gibbs isn't worth a top 50 pick on current form, let alone top 10. If he was at Port he'd be part of the problem, not the solution.

Griffen is too old for our current purposes.

Griffen is 24 ffs. Your posts are about as close to being right as your club is to its next premiership.

Gibbs has been in the best players in five of the six games so far this season and on current form is going better than any Port player. Have a look at what is actually happening rather than what the BigFooty group think says.

He's had 2 poor games i would say. 4/6. Still pretty irrelevant would be the best player at port.

i'd take jake melksham.
Right. We're going to give up one of our most promising young midfielders to get someone who is going to have injury issues for life? A kid who is already having an impact in his 2nd year?

Sure he's got a way to go, but Melks looks bloody classy and exactly what we need. So no thanks.

Re: Trades youd like to see your team make

 no. Is that why there was a thread on your board asking whether he should be dropped for Ellard? Odd thing to suggest for someone who's clearly going so well.

Any idiot can start a troll thread on BigFooty, it counts for nothing.

Re: Trades youd like to see your team make

AFL.com bests are about as reliable as Bryce Gibbs entering into a contest. And Hartlett is in much better form than Gibbs.

What sums him up for me is a play I saw against Adelaide. Gibbs was in about 20 metres of space with the ball trickling towards the boundary line, easily within his reach if he'd sprinted after it. But he couldn't be bothered, and he let it trickle out. He's very talented, but he's lazy, disinterested and stagnating badly. Laziness and disinterestedness are Port's biggest problems at the moment and Gibbs would only add to them. He'd be very, very handy and worth a first round pick to a good team, but not to Port.
Hartlett hasn't been anywhere near as good as Gibbs this year, Gibbs has been better than any Port player. He's had three very good games, two decent ones and one poor game. You can try and pick one isolated incident out but that means nothing when he's been in the best players in five out of his six games for his performances over the entire game. Doesn't matter anyway, there's no way he'd want to play for the worst team in the league.

Re: Trades youd like to see your team make

If we go back to trades we would like to see, rather than debating if my club's player is better than yours ....

At Essendon I don't think we have too many weaknesses. The last few drafts have been good.

  • Another really classy midfielder would be welcome - but those cost a bundle on the trade table.
  • Another tall defender would be nice - even if Pears injury issues are fine, Pears is capable of playing third tall anyway. So another tall adds depth and flexibility - and some coverage for Fletcher. Don't think Davis is tall enough.
  • We would like to keep all of Hille, Belly and Ryder but I could see one of them wanting out. Or if they don't due to the playing 3 rucks works out, then Gumby maybe wanting out. I would think if that happens our priority would be a replacement young tall and/or improvement in our draft position.
So I think we would focus on young talented Victorian kids who we might be able to get at a price less than what they would take if fully established/older. Like how Maloney and Scott Thomposn cost a single first round pick (while the more mature but less talented Stenglein the same year cost multiple picks).

The two we would love to lure back would be Toy and Trengove - both Essendon supporting Vics who would fit our needs. Would Toy be out of contract this year? He would have signed with GC as a 17yr old in 2009 so it has been two years.

apologies. have seen a bit of him and he looks the goods, but i saw he was only a late inclusion/sub against the gold coast, unless i've got the wrong bloke.

Re: Trades youd like to see your team make

Get real mate, your club would jump at the chance to get either of them for a top ten pick.

Doubt it chasing a team to win a flag with while we still have the cornes boys, tredders and carr wasn't chocco's dream that dream is dead, on to the future now with primus

He had played every game until that one, where he was the sub.

Re: Trades youd like to see your team make

Gibbs kills Hartlett on this years form. All games good an one average game.

Unbiased.

yer that's true, but i reckon at the end of the year, Hartletts will look better than Gibbs ( if hartlett stays injury free touch wood)

Not the only time its happened either. He fails to chase when opposition players have the ball within 5 metres of him.. just lets them get a kick off is usually 'effective due to his lack of 'pressure'.

Some of his efforts have made me want to vomit. Getting sick of it. Fast.

Re: Trades youd like to see your team make

Wouldn't mind a mid 20s pick for Matthew Bate unless he comes in and shows the potential that's clearly there. Same goes with Gumby at Essendon, Bate's a year older. Wouldn't mind throwing our first pick (probably pick 10) at Gumbleton. Would probably end as a 3 way with Essendon picking up a mature classy outsider

Really? No way known he was better than Scotland or Simpson.
