Williams at 12 just screams ludicrous to me, think hes easily there at a pick in the 2nd round and theres plenty of sides with bulk 2nd rounders that would be down for future picks.

I'm with you completely.

Of all the gems we've gotten later in the draft, I'd argue that only Parfitt is a clear cut blue chip prospect.

I think Henry is an elite third tall prospect and Nakia has limitless potential if he can get his body right.

We need prospects the caliber of B. King or B. Smith IMO.

The biggest reason to take a guy like RCD to me is because if he doesn't fulfil his potential, we basically have a 6'4 GHS.

If Williams doesn't fulfil his potential, we basically have Rhys Stanley again.

Those players could be useful even if they bust to a certain extent IMO.

If Jones, Butters, Clark, Sturt etc don't live up to expectation, they are basically the same as everyone we've delisted or traded out.

And they don't even have the upside of RCD or Williams in the first place.
We do need class players absolutely
Once Ablett, Dangerfield, Selwood, Hawkins, Taylor, Henderson are gone, We'll be running very thin otherwise
For mine Ratagolea is a good second tall forward, so we'll need a class tall forward in the next couple of drafts or trades periods
Kolo is a third tall back. We'll need to look at a tall back also

Fox guy has changed his pick to Butters for us overlooking The SA kid.

Ely Smith with the "Cocky" like late call up. Has Wells written all over it. Jones and McHenry just have Wells written all over them as well. Footballers, mid size and true utilities.

With all the phantoms 10-25 seem ridiculously even. We should 100% try and turn 12 into two picks. We are a team that screams out for depth. I still shake my head that we are adding 7 more players post 50. To the stack of long shots we already have. Needed to be much more bold this offseason.

And we could of traded Kelly for pick 20 & 22....

That's not what I meant. That would have been a shocking deal. Our best under 25 kid for picks that will end up 24 and 28.

There was other ways to be creative. Plus other players that could have been moved on.

I haven't seen much of Williams, but I have noticed that his supporters (who have seen much more of him) on this thread are very staunch. Therefore I'd back you in.
As has been mentioned already, Williams is a polarizing player regardless, ley alone any dreaded mention of using pick 12 on him.

I wrote that on October 22nd, nearly a month to the day and I am still steadfast in my belied that he will be a successful AFL player.

As I have also mentioned, I would absolutely love to have the name Ben King or Bailey Smith on the team sheet, if that miracle doesn't occur then RCD and Williams are the best bet at striking gold.

I personally believe that Williams is arguably the best ruck prospect in the draft along with Briggs.

He's at worst the fourth best KPF prospect in the draft and Lukosius is more of a third tall IMO.

RCD could be the best clearance mid in this whole draft and has the highest upside of all midfield prospects in general outside of Walsh IMO.

You've gone early Big Carl.
Wells may yet trade future picks to get into this draft earlier than the 50s.

I would be absolutely astounded if we pick McHenry. If fact I saying we just won't. Very accomplished young player but at 176 his only elite trait is tackling and determination. No chance at 12

Not that it has anything to do with us but I just want to say again I can't believe Carlton will take Walsh ahead of Luko or Rankine. They are guaranteed to have access to absolute top end midfield talent for the next draft at least and maybe the one after that. What they almost certainly won't have is access to the most talented tall kid I have ever seen by a mile or the simply the most talented junior a lot of people have ever seen. I just can't understand why you would play it safe and take Walsh. Who knows what the future holds but the two SA kids are just so talented it is ridiculous. Generational not just top end mid talent like Walsh. Seems like a safe play to me and when you are going to get a number of cracks at it I wouldn't play safe ever!

Walsh is hardly playing safe, most talented mid we will see for a decade.

I can see us being very aggressive.

Wouldn't be surprised if we trade 2 future picks - one used to upgrade pick 12 and one used to have a greater presence in this year's 2nd or 3rd rounds.

So that would leave us this year with:
- Upgrade on pick 12
- Pick in 20-30s
- Picks 50 and 51 (which will be mid-late 40s after bidding)
- Brownless

Sounds a lot better

Can’t see how that’s possible. If we trade next year’s first we can’t trade any other future picks.

I'm going to make a huge call. I reckon RCD will become a similar player to Dangerfield. I wouldn't be unhappy If Wells calls his name out tomorrow night.

This talk about Bulldogs looking at trading pick 7 is interesting. My tip is that it will be with GWS for picks 11 and 22 or 24. Which would leave them still in pole position to take Smith at 11 before us and then get another kid like Butters or O'Halloran with the 20's pick. GWS in turn then use pick 7 to get Caldwell. What affect it has on who's available to us then gets interesting -

Ignoring the bids, I'd now see it as:

1. Carl - Walsh
2. GC - Luko
3. GC - Rankine
4. Saints - M.King
5. Port - Rozee
6. GC - B.King
7. GWS - Caldwell
8. Adel - C.Jones
9. GWS - RCD
10. Port - J.Clark or Hately
11. Bulldogs - B.Smith
12. Geelong - J.Clark or Hately

Geez that seems strange seeing as the most well known pundit we know Knightmare doesn't even think he is the best in this draft. How is it possible for someone who watches so much footy to get it so wrong if you are to be believed!! If he was as talented as you suggest there would be no debate at all!

So you reckon much of Walsh’s cachet is media hype?
