The reply was responding to those who were dismissing Dal Santo's credentials because he hasn't won a flag. As if that makes him a clueless flog.

I said his analytical skills were the most important so I'm not going to dismiss what someone says because they aren't ex premiership players.

Chris Scott and his staff have proven their incompetence over many years.

Some people have poor analytical skills and don't learn from their mistakes.
Sure you weren't responding because his clueless analysis matches your own?

Personally, I'd keep him.

His knees are shot, and he ain't as quick as he used to be, but Willo still has something to offer around here so I'm happy to keep him for another season :D

No Willo does not fit in with our "No Dickheads" policy.:D

I think it's very easy to be critical in hindsight. There are a host of reasons we haven't been able to jag a flag the past 7 years. I'm not sure that the topping up is too high on that list. I think though there has to be a recognition as I said earlier that we need a significant change in direction in order to not become a basket case down the track.

Topping up is the top of the list. Like I said plenty were critical of the direction we took.

We will be a basket case whether people like it or not, it's just a matter of how bad we become.

Since we are no longer a destination club few will want to come here forcing us into the draft anyway.

You obviously know stuff all about footy, how much did you see of him this year, I saw about 12 games afl and vfl and cant remember him getting beat one on one.
You must have missed the final I was at. One touch in the first half...game over. Yes he had a lot of mates but not getting beaten is simply wrong.

You can add cockatoo Henderson Tuohy and Ablett to that list

and the fact that Brown, Lang, Thurlow and Smedts were generally played out of position and weren't the type of players Chris Scott likes

you cant draft outside players that need significant development and then not develop them properly because you are trying to win a flag every year

blaming poor draft selections instead of topping up is a new low for the mediocrity acceptors

You lost me at that point.
He was their leading kicker ome year wasnt he? For a ordinary team with no midfield that's not too bad. He doesnt kick bags but his conversion isnt that bad. Not saying he'll be in the starting 22 but wouldnt mind him in the VFL like we did with cramdog. Only if he costs next to nothing.

Awesome clunk of the pill but his kicking is shit.

So an ex-player on the radio has more credentials than a premiership-winning coach with an overall 72% W/L record and his elite staff, who are at the top of their job and whose role is to specifically manage the list and players and by doing so have resulted in has essentially making the finals every year after being a club who almost when into administration?

You can see that clearly with kolo's brother
Kade, they obviously talk about their club situations.
Kade looks to have taken brotherly advice.

We have not been brilliant with our early picks in recent times.
Maybe Wells is just a 'deep pick' specialist.
Were they bad selections or were they not developed well enough by a coaching staff who havent got a great track record thus far in developing youth? Chicken and the egg but worth contemplating...

I think time has shown they were very average selections. Even Wells would admit that, I reckon.
Probably would agree with you but you never know if they could have been better players or not. I dont think the likes of Brown and Thurlow were treated fairly and given proper opportunity but overall I think Wells tried to be too cute/clever with "diamond in the rough" type selections with most of those.
