You guys and the blokes from further down Hoddle Street are a different kind of feral though let's be honest. Also Henry will go to the draft, not sign a one year with you guys.
he can run the gauntlet of the PSD - if he gets picked by west coast, he'll truly understand what homesickness is :)
BTW - I'm a Geelong resident. And I've seen first hand how feral Cats supporters are. You're no better or worse than anyone else

Unlike many others I don't rely on precedent. Including the Jordan Clark case. Every case is different.
TBH 18 is fair with a swap of future 3rd rounders.
Being OOC is irrelevant too. Contracts run until 31 Oct and if Ollie wants to run out his contract he can run the gauntlet of the PSD. Plenty of clubs who have cap space to accommodate him. If he gets picked by West Coast, he'll truly understand what homesickness means.
It's also interesting that Geelong only value him at 38. Sends a message to Ollie that his preferred team don't really rate him after all.
It's also forgotten that Ollie actually enjoys being at the Pies. He just wants to be closer to home and play with his bro (both valid reasons).
The reality is that Geelong don't have to do anything - they don't really need Ollie. He's more valuable to us.
But unless Geelong come up with something else beyond 38, I doubt if Wright will budge on the first round demand.
BTW the whole "henry wasn't in the first 22" argument is a furphy. Ollie was good enough but his defensive pressure needed some work (which the coaches informed him about). And Ash Johnson was in better form anyway.
I know a few people in AFL circles and none of them think that when its trade time...

Ha, We would want 5 1st rounders for SDK!! Absolute jet, best young Backman in the league by a country mile!!
I was literally thinking for fun about what SDK would go for.
No one would have anything we want. I literally wouldn’t trade him for anyone in the comp.

I don't think he is worth more than what we let Lang go for.
Given how highly I rate your opinion it is baffling to me how badly you are judging this one.

Buddy, you can’t keep him.
He’s out of contract and just knocked back a one year extension.

It’s all over.
I know we can't keep him. But he's contracted till oct 31. If we don't get a fair trade he can go to the PSD and join in the chorus. Or fly high like an eagle.
Which Ollie won't do. As I've said elsewhere, Ollie actually enjoys being at the Pies - he just wants to play closer to home with Jack. However we won't be lowballed in this instance. We may have been with Stephenson and Treloar but the nufties in charge back then are gone now.

I get it. This is a p1sstake.

So lets say Collingwood play silly buggers and Ollie heads to the drafts who picks up a player who has made his intentions clear he wants to get to the Cats his family and back playing with his brother.I think we get him with pick 18 and Pies get zilch
what are the chances of him lasting till 18? (without being investigated for draft-tampering)

I think 44 is going to go to bedford and 31 will go to gws in the hopper deal (and they wont do 18 for bruhn and 31 unless we are also sending a future 1st).

Collingwood wont do 31 for anyway they will want an early 20s pick at worst.

For eg (purely guessing)
If it was 48 and sav for 33 you might then be able to flip 33 and 38 to brisbane for 25.

Whether coll would then take 25 and 55 for henry im not sure still feels a bit light.

If we are going to do bruhn and henry while keeping our future 1st it would need to be something like that.

Wont be easy to do.

The Bowes trade has the side effect of saving our future 1st as we won't be able to get a replacement future 2nd.

Collingwood publicly are saying they value Henry, but all of their list moves have worked to push him out and devalue him. He is OOC and they've given him a shit contract offer. They replaced him with Ash Johnson in the season and then brought in another structural piece in his way in McStay. They don't really want him to stay, would be wasted cap for them that they're throwing Grundy out to save.

On valuing Henry there is way too much tunnel vision on Henry's goal average and him being an early pick in the peak Covid year, he is very far from a certainty. You have to be much more well rounded to make it at AFL level, he has heaps to go.

It won't be a straight swap of 18 from Bruhn. We'll get something back.

Doesn't have to be Richmond's 31 could be St Kilda's 32.

It's been made abundantly clear by a poster in here calling into trade radio and speaking to Rendell that the pick 38 malarkey was just him making up shit. Stop perpetuating it and basing your worthless argument off it - on an opposition board no less.

You seem to be forgetting that he came to us, we didnt chase him so for all your posturing we can just walk away and you can be the bad guys, making out like we have to give you something incredible is absolutely laughable, i for one hope he does go to the draft and you get sweet FA!!!

Collingwood shouldn't trade Henry for less than 18. I'm not sure the offer of 38 was real but if it was then there is the possibility that we don't rate him that highly. Ollie has said he wants to come to Geelong but maybe Geelong aren't that fixed on it.

The most remarkable thing in these situations is the club losing the player continues with the charade that keeping him is an option.
why wouldn't it be an option? Players have changed their minds before after submitting trade requests.

It's funny because I'm a Melbourne resident, and I definitely know which two clubs have the worst supporters by far.

Hint: it's you and Richmond, not even close.

Ok I'll play along - how is it a pisstake?
And let's reverse the situation.
Pretend that you guys drafted Nick Daicos. After 2 years he wants to leave to play alongside Josh. Would you accept pick 38 for him?
Comparing Henry to Daicos = pisstake.
