I know we can't keep him. But he's contracted till oct 31. If we don't get a fair trade he can go to the PSD and join in the chorus. Or fly high like an eagle.
Which Ollie won't do. As I've said elsewhere, Ollie actually enjoys being at the Pies - he just wants to play closer to home with Jack. However we won't be lowballed in this instance. We may have been with Stephenson and Treloar but the nufties in charge back then are gone now.
Sorry but why would the Eagles take Henry?

Ok I'll play along - how is it a pisstake?
And let's reverse the situation.
Pretend that you guys drafted Nick Daicos. After 2 years he wants to leave to play alongside Josh. Would you accept pick 38 for him?

Seriously, your recent efforts on the board haven't been great but this is just taking the piss & adding nothing

But to answer your question, Daicos was a father & son selection so highly doubtful he was available on the open market for anyone to draft - but if we did draft him it would indicate that Collingwood didn't rate him high enough at draft time & why would he then want to play for a club who didn't rate him 2 years prior...

Surely the more likely trade in your scenario is Josh asking for a trade to Geelong to play alongside his brother rather than staying at a club who passed over his brother

Now, seriously consider if you're adding value to the discussion or just walking the tightrope of pissing off the locals

Even of Henry went to the PSD who would sign a young player to a 1 year deal??? Why would a club waste club resources???
Clubs believe they can turn a player around. What if Ollie actually liked living in Perth? Or playing for North? It's totally feasible especially if the other PSD options are inferior.
Even if they get one good year out of Ollie it a) helps them win and b) provides additional trade leverage in next years trade period

There are hot takes that are shit, and then there are shit takes, and then there is this.
Or are you saying Henry is as good as Daicos? Because in that case Pies look horrendous for not playing him in finals.

the question is whether you'd accept a pick 20 spots lower than what you wanted for him.

I get your premise, I reject it as being irrelevant. A player's value is what others a willing to pay, no skin off our back if he walks to North in the pre-season, he wanted us we're willing to humour it. Your team didn't take care of him which is why he wants to leave.

LoL

So a 20 year old on a 1 year deal?? No club will take that on and trade leverage would be zero, because he is in the PSD...

don't know- but why wouldn't they? Josh Kennedy is gone and they need forward options to support Darling, Allen etc
FWIW I don't think the Eagles would draft him but my point is that Ollie wouldn't want to risk it by going to the PSD.

If Henry is as good as you’re insinuating, why was he dropped and why didn’t he play finals?

Let me simplify it
Would you accept an offer for a player much lower than what you value him at?

2 reasons
he was told to work on his defensive pressure and
Ash Johnson happened to be in better form
Ollie has loads of potential but he isn't the finished product. But we rate him more than 38

Let me simplify it for you since you ignored the previous suggestion

Run on - you've outlived your welcome & are just taking the piss

Don't want to see further posts from you

While people are mentioning Nick Daicos. Just want to say he will win a Brownlow and maybe even next year. He can dominate a game the way Gary Ablett Jnr did. Ollie Henry would be pissed off if he gets to Geelong and Collingwood wins the flag next year.

Unlike many others I don't rely on precedent. Including the Jordan Clark case. Every case is different.
TBH 18 is fair with a swap of future 3rd rounders.
Being OOC is irrelevant too. Contracts run until 31 Oct and if Ollie wants to run out his contract he can run the gauntlet of the PSD. Plenty of clubs who have cap space to accommodate him. If he gets picked by West Coast, he'll truly understand what homesickness means.
It's also interesting that Geelong only value him at 38. Sends a message to Ollie that his preferred team don't really rate him after all.
It's also forgotten that Ollie actually enjoys being at the Pies. He just wants to be closer to home and play with his bro (both valid reasons).
The reality is that Geelong don't have to do anything - they don't really need Ollie. He's more valuable to us.
But unless Geelong come up with something else beyond 38, I doubt if Wright will budge on the first round demand.
BTW the whole "henry wasn't in the first 22" argument is a furphy. Ollie was good enough but his defensive pressure needed some work (which the coaches informed him about). And Ash Johnson was in better form anyway.
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Cats BigFooty community, we have a winner!!

This post will be hard to beat.

Found Hvashera2's alt account 🤣

Can we trade our F1 and F2 if we bring in another future picks? Like trading our picks in the 40s-50s to Brisbane so they can get points, and getting a future pick from them?
Yes.

in recent years, off memory, we got a lot less than what GAJ, and Tim Kelly were worth. Both were rated in the top 5 in the comp at their spots when we let them go- GAJ was easily # 1 player in the comp
