I really hope Collingwood send him to the draft and they end up with nothing.. talk about cutting your nose of to spite your face.. I think that's how it goes lol

Anyone else reckon this Collingwood move is being influenced heavily by their new coach?

The bloke seems pretty ruthless and competitive, but might be a little bit silly?
Not sure but I think it's interesting that DeGoey is the one they've backed in. The bloke can play but misdemeanors aside, he still hasn't done it consistently. It's an interesting call. I don't mind ruthlessness but I would've thought DeGoeys the one you'd be ruthless with.

He seems emotional and relies on that to drive the team. Pies were an exciting team to watch last season with a lot of lesser players stepping up to perform really good roles.
They’ll need to improve a lot to have a similar result next season.

What did be say?
He thanked his teammates.
He thanked the fans.
Then he said that his dream was to play for Collingwood for his entire career and that the club essentially reneged on the deal.

He did not thank the club, the coaches or the management.

Very professional and considered, but shots fired nonetheless.

If I were Mackie, I would tell Port Adelaide, Ratagolea, Hawthorn and Stephens that unless the Henry deal goes through, no other deals will be done. Let them lean on Collingwood. Maybe one of them will make the deal happen.

Given the boredom attached to current proceedings (current manufactured proceedings), perhaps we can play nearest the pin and pick the time the Henry deal get's either killed off / or officially announced as being done.

I'll step up to the tee and go with - deal gets announced that he's going to Geelong at 7.25pm.

Doesn't exactly take into account that clubs only need to be lined up ready to lodge paperwork at 7.30pm ...... but you get it.

Wow - that is a player that was pushed out.

I actually feel for him. Clearly a committed and loyal player. Traded two years into a seven year deal.

This is the kind of thing that can really have a negative impact on the culture of the place. No doubt he had a lot of mates there that he formed great relationships with over the years. They won't be happy and it can have a detrimental impact IMO.

Just how many deal Geelong gets done is hard enough.

Henry crash and burn ..not because it should but I think the Pies are in denial

And when the club try to sign their future players to longer deals, their credibility will be damaged. They can promise the player they are valued and part of the future but the player would just say; “Yeah sure but in 18 months will you say the same?”
