Henry cannot go to the PSD. He would be grabbed immediately.

As for the ND he can’t put a price on his head that we can’t pay.
You cannot smooth it.

Let’s say he puts up a 1 year request with $500k.
Geelong have to prove they have the $500k or they can’t draft him.

You can smooth after year one. But not when he is drafted.

I'm more upset Stephens looks like he's gone. That one will come back to bite us.
I don’t think so mate
I do think he will play for many years but I can’t see the decision hurting us.
I said last week something had to give, we couldn’t keep getting good talent and not lose anyone.
Sadly for your sake and you have invested a lot of positivity about him.

I just see him as an average afl footballer

Essendon list manager just stated that they are open to a 'live' trade of their pick 4 on draft night as they are looking to trade down. Interesting.
Gee it'll cost though. Our Fr1 will have to be involved in some capacity.

Not sure I'd do that deal. I like Clark but I'm not sure I'd be doing a deal with the devil to get P4..

It's not the money that is the detracting factor if he goes through the ND. He would just put a standard amount on his head, $300k x 2 or whatever he would be looking at from Geelong. If someone takes him they are giving up a top 25 pick for someone that doesn't want to be there. The opportunity cost is the young player they would be foregoing to select Henry.

CS for basically a nothing pick is not acceptable, we wont be that stupid shorly?
they're hardly giving us a deal that makes us move him. Pick after 40 or Stephens.
More likely to get more out of Stephens and if we lose him next year out of contract then who cares. Not like we're giving up a great deal this year to risk losing for less in 12 months.

Would keep him.

If we rated him very highly...not sure we'd trade him whilst under contract. Clearly we think he's going to struggle to get a game the next couple of years and establish himself.

I wanted to keep him just to see how he would develop.

I think there might be some unhappy people as to what we get in return unfortunately..

I just dont see how anyone could make that determination given what we have seen of him at AFL level so far. If anything, he got better as he played consecutive games this year early on. The fact that he is contracted means we obviously think he has more to show. Letting him go for a pick in the 60's simply doesnt make any sense. Unless it is part of a deal to get us Clarke with a pick upgrade from 7 to 6 or 5 etc.

But i am more bullish on Stephens ability, and i dont want to see us trade him at all.

Ok, so Geelong can backend a couple of guys and have enough to offer Henry 700k for 1 year and then have a wink wink deal to extend him for minimum chips after that?

I wouldn't think any club would pay big bucks for a guy that 1: isn't worth that much. 2: Probably wouldn't even talk to the clubs and
3: Will likely walk after one year.

It seems sus to me though... Not sure If it would be looked upon or deemed outside the rules over time.

Anyway if it goes down that way and we get Henry and the pies get nothing, Pies fans will go bezerk.

I don’t think we will gift him to a team like we have in the past Fog etc
I think a FR2 is gettable for him

I think the other coaches voted with sour grapes.

Even Longmire finished higher than CS. How is that possible? What did the Swans do? Win 7 in a row?

Yeah this gets me more than McRae winning. McRae is at least a story. What the hell did Longmire do better than Scott? Genuinely baffled.

Why would anyone want a player who clearly doesn’t want to play for them?
Demented Pies supporters probably think the cult of Geelong got into his head, that he really wants to stay

FR2 tied to Hawks?

I take it back...if we get that take it and run!!!

I can't see us getting that. That will nearly be a first rounder with where the Hawks are expected to finish next year..
That’s what I would suspect might happen
I hope we then trade it to the pies for Henry and that pick get pushed out to 25+
