With respect to your opening paragraph, my post asking that the to-and-fro end, was not holding you responsible...it was simply a recognition that it was time to move on as the posts were becoming personal. I see it as a Moderator responsibility to keep posts civil, on-topic and where necessary step in where posts are drifting away from football issues.
With respect to your second paragraph, ...yes, I plead guilty for deleting abusive or poster based "contributions" in the (perhaps forlorn) hope that the poster will understand that poster focussed input isn't worth the effort, knowing it will be deleted. And you do have recourse to defend yourself...report it to the Mods for adjudication .. you would be surprised what happens behind the scenes when Mods are made aware of repeated resorting to argumentative and/or inflammatory rhetoric evidenced by sometimes long periods of silence from the perpetrators...you may have noticed the absence of some "personalities" who repeatedly transgressed and ignored Mod warnings...
Bottom line? If your attacked personally let the Mods deal with it behind the scenes. Responding publicly only feeds the troll/abuser..much better dealt with by us as we have recourse to actions that you don't have,
Hey mate,
Thanks for that, really appreciate you taking the time out to post all that - it really means a lot
Don't usually get too put offside as I understand things can get heated, but it was tough to stomach having vitriol flung at me - given I'd already accepted an impasse had been reached days earlier and hadn't discussed things any further as requested.
Good to have an understanding of things from a Mod's POV, so I can best equip myself in future to use you guys to deal with less desirable posts.
Thanks again for all you guys do, and sorry if we make it difficult sometimes with incidents like this, haha.
Cheers,
Shadow
