Wow Soldo done for a pick that will be 36 on the night and a future 2nd.

Pick 30 doesn’t sound so great now. Would have taken the above for Esava

Soldo contracted, and they did that so that we couldn't ask for the other F2. Now it's very much dependent on another club to get it done - as Port will have no other picks to trade.

Egan going to bulldogs

King coming to cats for less money than he was getting at Suns. Will live in Melbourne and club have agreed to give him a new car every three months.

And after waiting 2 weeks for nothing to be done we are finally on the last day where everything will be done....but we will have to wait until 7pm.

I hate trade period.
I remember the good old days of trade week. No **** around, just get it done in the week allocated.

AFL likes money too much....

Does our 8 + 25 get #7 off GWS in an attempted trade-up situation?

Probably depends on who GWS are after.

Only thinking that if #25 can be used to move up to get a player we want then it would be okay folding to Port.

Otherwise I'm actually fine losing Sav for zilch if we think 25 doesn't help us move up and get a kid we really want.

They still have Freo's F2 and they'd have a F3 still to give. I'd expect if they give us 25 and Freo's F2 they'd want something back on top of Sav. Maybe our F3 or F4 would do the trick.

If Port are happy to pay pick 41 and a F2 pick for Soldo, then Esava is worth so much more than 25 (30 in reality)...

He's 2 years younger than Soldo, has played more games than him (I know Soldo has had some injury troubles, but so did Esava), and apparently Sav's an urgent need.

Seems to me like Port's main move here was to chase the player, offer a much bigger/better contract, and then try to short-change us in the trade while declaring this "fair". I'm happy we've stood our ground amidst their posturing.

Can't trade Freo's F2 their own F3 or their own F4, once they've handed over their Future 2nd.

Reason being, is that trading out your first means you're 'locked out' from trading any of your other future picks (AFL's genious idea to stop clubs trading away draft hands that we utilised last year to snooker the Pies into taking 25 from us).

They're able to trade their own or Freo's Future 2nd, because they now have two of them, but once they've traded one of those - their entire future hand is locked.

This has absolutely been by design.

People see 24 and then go into a frenzy when compared to 41. Not realising there will be only 6 maybe 7 picks taken between them on draft night.

My best guess is that 25 becomes 29 - 5 players bid and 1 pick (24) consumed.

And 41 becomes 39 - 5 players bid and 7 picks consumed (assumes 6 by GC and Hawks use 33 for McCabe).

I believe a recent rule change means that they might be able to give us their Fr4... not that it overly appealing.
