All our top end picks should be used to get midfield guns. If Stengle leaves I’d be looking at pooling our top picks to make an offer to North to get pick 1 to grab Finn O’Sullivan.

This draft is weaker at the top by all reports but still, that just makes it less worthwhile. Just draft Lalor and Faull if you have that to begin with

If your mail on Smith and Oliver coming is correct, we'll have bugger all collateral to left to trade up.

Do wonder though that if we really do fall in a heap and end up with a top 10 pick (likely 2 in that case with Stengle gone) there's a part of me that would just want to go to the draft with that kind of arsenal.

Bring in two more elite young mids with early picks, and the next gen midfield would be closing in on finished.

Not from a development POV of course...that's going to take a while, but in terms of getting the talent in the door, we'd just about be there.

Last year was considered a generational number 1, a pretty even and fairly strong next 10 (down to O'Sullivan) and then dropped off very quickly.

This year sounds deeper down to 20+ and fairly even from all reports with no standout number 1. Dominated by midfielders too.

lol look I loved him at his best, a terrific player with a real will to win the contest, but I don’t see how anyone could pay much more than a 2nd-rounder on recent form, and his contract makes it impossible
