As normal, would like to acknowledge & thank Lore for creating this, keeping it up to date and making it available for all users on BF to use and keep track of the picks ahead of the upcoming draft

It's Mullin, no bloody "s".

Not difficult people!
What's really entertaining about the incessant misspelling of player's names from posters who 'don't care and you knew who I meant' is that they generally tend to add letters rather than drop them.

Meaning that in order to be imprecise and supposedly save time on matters that are unimportant, they've actually ended up expending extra time and additional keystrokes.

Anyone interested in Ollie Lord 👀

Vic rivals circle young tall, Giant undecided, wait on compo picks - https://www.afl.com.au/news/1229691
Come home, son!

Honestly, having him in the side either creates competition between him and Neale for that big forward role, or it releases Cameron to play more across the wing/half-forward. Also allows us to cover a future without Blicavs better, with Neale as relief ruckman.

If we delisted Foster, and Tomahawk is retired. Makes me think we will go for O Lord.

I still think he is a flash in the pan type and won't make it, but I suppose we will need ready made depth or a young kid and will only have dud late draft picks... So I suppose it's probably best on offer atm with our trade/draft capital.

The overlap between those thinking Hardie was super hard done by and Mullin, Neale, Bruhn, etc are no good is strong.

Makes me more confident the club made the right choices to be honest. Mullin stepped up in AFL finals pressure. Hardie was found wanting by VFL finals pressure.
You're both overstating Mullin's influence, and underestimating Hardie's.

Look, Hardie wasn't elevated for some reason (presumably either disposal or defensive cover), but that doesn't mean you need to overstate one contribution and underplay the other.

The 🐂 💩 is flying from old mate again

How was SDK out of favour? He had a nagging knee injury, which he damaged further. Then a knee arthroscopy to remove debris + completed rehab. Played VFL, but not sufficiently fit for Finals. Geelong take the wellbeing of players seriously. Would be negligent to have played him.

I'd be shocked if we were offered 2x picks in the top-10 for him.

And I'd be straight up dirty if we knocked that back.
Draft picks are highly overrated. Failure rate on top 10 picks is lower. As an example, here is a group of players taken with pick 6 between 2000 and 2015.

Dylan Smith, Ashley Sampi, Steven Salopek, Kepler Bradley, Tom Williams, Beau Dowler, Mitch Thorp, David Myers, Chris Yarran, Gary Rohan, Reece Conca, Chad Wingard, Jack Macrae, Mathew Scharenberg, Caleb Marchbank, Aaron Francis

How many of those would you take before SDK? Success rate is much higher on picks 1-5. I would much prefer to keep the bird in the hand. Let's not forget how long it takes for players to develop. My view is that with SDK he is still probably 2 years off hitting his prime. You take draft picks you start all over again.

I watched both VFL finals. Hardie and Parfitt were awful. Completely lacking any composure and shanked kicks forward when put under pressure. They were both found out by the step up in pace and pressure.

In both games we only started to look competitive when they moved out of the midfield and were pushed forward in the second half.

Neglient to play him?

Classic post hoc reasoning.

He had a minor knee issue and wasnt out for months and months. He had literally played a vfl game two weeks earlier and pulled up fine.

Was probably more fit then some of the players who played.

I’m convinced anyone calling for Hardie to play never watched him and only looked at stats. I was the same until I started watching a few games to see what the deal was. Spot on with the no composure and shanked kicks

Could be blue moonism but the Doggie’s board are burning Geelong/Cotton On deal to the ground along with implicating the AFL whilst simultaneously forcing Geelong to offer more to keep them quiet and the dogs offering SDK 6 years which he’s apparently keen on….
Why on earth would the Dogs want another tall?
