Ask and we'll try our best to assist - so here's 2024 Provisional AFL Draft Order

As normal, would like to acknowledge & thank Lore for creating this, keeping it up to date and making it available for all users on BF to use and keep track of the picks ahead of the upcoming draft

I'll also sticky this post to ensure it's easily accessible for discussion of our hypothetical trader

It could be that he’s not confident Geelong can get a deal done.

Reports are that Geelong are only offering a first and some change which Sam Power has gone on record saying “not even close”.

A deal will most likely get done, but Geelong have to start trading in good faith.
It's already painful enough having to read your dribble on the drafts and trading boards, please don't bring it onto our board.

A deal on Smith is easy, dogs just want to look tough

Serious question, tell us all what you think he’s worth if a first rounder and “change” like a second isn’t enough lol. Out of contract and Coming off an acl and a poor season the year before. I’d love to hear it

Now we've got Cal Twomey with a few Geelong updates:

It's like this every trade period. Everyone knows the deal gets done, but they'll wait until the last day to finalise.

It's done on purpose so they have something to talk and write about for however many weeks this godawful period now runs for. They have trade radio on all day every day, and they just sit around mindlessly droning on about the same crap, to the point where they're just throwing up imaginary proposals and scenarios. All just an exercise to keep the AFL in the media and to sell advertising.

I can't help but feel a lot of deals are really worked out well in advance, and then a lot of stuff in the media is performance art for headlines. The trade period could probably be done in a couple of days.

You will get what we give you, you have no leverage at all since he is out of contract and coming of ACL, but hey you and the doggies board continue the narrative of us coughing up a ridiculous amount, whatever helps you sleep at night, we arent the best trading club in the league for no reason.

Ollie Henry keen to extend his contract. Ready to open talks with the club soon.
Forget extending him, needs to show up for a full year before we think about doing that, couple of good finals games doesnt deserve an extension. Many on here wanted dropped throughout the season me included.

You guys will be doing ok to get steak knives on top of our R1.

Luckily we are good blokes and will hook the doggies up with some Macca’s wood knives + a paper straw.

But dood they'll walk him to the PSD like all those other times it's happened...

Time to swallow your pride and admit you were wrong. Just turned 22 and nearly single handedly dragged us across the line in a prelim.

Surely a first with a swap of later picks is close to value though - Smith is OOC, hasn't played for 12 months due to his ACL, his 2023 season was down on his previous couple of years and he's never finished top 5 in the clubs B&F

I'm not sure the Bulldogs can be requesting for the world for him based on known factors

On the Bailey Smith thing.
Who knows if he's changed his mind. (buying a property somewhere else means little in my mind)

But Geelong have been pretty smart at this stuff for a long time.
i.e. We told Cameron not to worry about anything. We'll get the deal done.

And I've seen us trade out future picks to create a squeeze on what we can actually pay for a trade.
So in my optimistic, 'Geelong are professional' mode. I wouldn't be surprised one bit to find out that Geelong have promised Smith but asked for it not to be disclosed so that their hand isn't shown for other trades.

My gut feel.

Throw them a 4th rounder or 5th round pick and thanks for coming.

Don't need to trade for Preuss - he's been delisted by GWS, so can pick him up as a DFA

But surely we don't go that path - 10 senior games in 4 seasons at the Giants, his time their cruelled by injured and most recently a series of back issues. Having not long turned 29, not sure it's a risk worth taking

Happy to extend Ollie's contract now

Sydney veteran Luke Parker has officially requested a trade to North Melbourne, dubbing the decision an "extremely difficult" one.

They also mentioned if he were to walk to the ND he would be a lock to go to Geelong. No one else would touch him. Bulldogs fans need to understand we hold all the power here. We could probably be real c u next Tuesdays and say we will give you a second rounder and a future second. But we won’t , it will be a first and then at best a second and that’s totally fair

I'm still seeing Bulldogs fans on socials say they should walk him to the PSD, not understanding the above

Try to explain to them that he'd nominate for the ND, not the PSD and that no club is wasting a first round pick on a player who doesn't want to play for their club
