Of that list...here's what my uninformed opinion thinks!

PLAYERTHOUGHTSDECISION (Stay, Go, 50/50)
MannaghCats played him straight away, he'll repay the faith. Only danger is oppo clubs offering him the World in cash AND a role in their forward line. Teams desperate for gun small forward eg. Doggies, Freo, North50/50 (depending on offers)
KnevittStarting to play now, eventually re-signsStay
EdwardsCats have big plans, gotta lock him up before Freo and Eagles come hunting to bring their boy backStay
O'SullivanMy boy! Cats know how versatile the gazelle is. Listed as a key back when drafted but has the quickness and skill to play multiple roles, don't be surprised if Scotty tries him in different positions down the track.Stay
StevensLocal boy, hard to see him wanting to leave but depending on list spots may get the chop. Good to have at VFL level to set standards.50/50
DeKoningOnly a matter of time. Plenty of reports have him just working on the $$$$ value.Stay
WiltshireCats will see him as insurance for Mannagh if he goes. Don't see him elsewhere.Stay
Ivisic Injured, Will need to prove himself at VFL level once he returns. Depends on list spots50/50
Retchsko Again, depending on list spots. Reckon he gets the chopGo
DempseyHas stated multiple times he loves the club and couldn't see himself elsewhere. I imagine just working on the $$$ value as well.Stay
AtkinsVeteran leader, won't be going anywhereStay
MullinScott and Match Committee see huge value in him. Not going anywhere unless he chooses to go Home.Stay
PikeMay get the chop. Not confident for himGo
ClohesyI think he will get a big pull from other clubs especially Gold Coast to go play with his brother.
Don't think we want to lose him, it depends if someone offers him a guaranteed role elsewhere
50/50
Mannagh has a very young family so I do not think he would go to WA and I think playing at a club in contention would be important to him. I would be surprised if he left for any of those clubs. Might be a different story if Carlton was the one offering.

Apparently a discussion on SEN WA today and when asked where Harley Reid will play in 2026 Tim Gossage strongly suggested either Geelong or Essendon. And when pressed, he said Geelong having Bailey Smith will be a big lure for Harley Reid.

In no way suggesting Gossage is on the money, but he is closely connected to the Eagles and has broken many a story in Perth over the years on both local clubs.

much better looking TDL....

Go Catters
Need to sign mannagh (other clubs will target him due to age and late starter) and Dempsey and sdk.
Knevitt and osullivan should get the standard 2 year extension. Same for Edwards (I assume the WA clubs will chase him).
Atkins probably 1 year
The other rookie types I'm not fussed whether we keep or not.

I doubt mannagh takes his family interstate unless the money is astronomical. But if we offer him say 2-3 years at 500-600pa (which is about what I think we will offer) and a club like collingwood/carlton/ess/haw/wbd etc offers him 4 years at 800k he would have to take the money if he can still stay in vic

Western Bulldogs inquired about Clohesy last year as part of the Bailey Smith trade. Club rejected that obviously, but hard to know if that was Mackie just playing hard ball / or GFC factoring him into future list management plans (required player)

If I'm the dogs I would be chasing mannagh not clohesy. Fills a more obvious need and with the Werribee thing it's an obvious fit.

Just so we're clear here. You're saying Duursma has a bigger profile across the AFL landscape than Bailey Smith?

I'm only repeating what was said on radio by the way. But yeah for someone like Harley Reid, the chance to play at a club he grew up barracking for - and at a ground his family still have reserved seats at - and Bailey Smith taking some of the spotlight off him - I can see the appeal.

None of that means he'll be at Geelong though.

and I wouldn't begrudge him for a moment if he does. His story and explosion onto the top level stage has been inspiring enough. :thumbsu:
I'd only regret the damage he'd do on game day against us. :eekv1:
Go for it, son. That is if they make the offer.

I honestly can't even think of a trade package we could offer, that would satisfy West Coast for Harley Reid. Essendon have the picks and they're in Melbourne. Best we could do is 2 mid-late 1sts, Humphries and Neale. Neale we won't give up because he is the future of our forward line, and Humphries looks like a star in the making.

No way for it to work - without even taking into account that Essendon could offer Reid 2 MIL+ per year, as has been speculated. We won't even offer 1 MIL, lol.

reid to geelong is not happening until he is a free agent.

Even then, I wouldn't see it happening. His salary expectation and market value, is just way outside our pay structure. For us to pay him that amount of money...nope there's no player I can think of where we would pay that amount of money. It's just not how our club operates

I'm okay with that too.

The guy is a freak talent, but there's some worrying signs too. It could genuinely go either way.

He could be the next Martin, and you forget whatever you traded for him in short order.

He could just be the next Jake Stringer or Cam Rayner though, and you've gutted your capital and salary cap for a decade as a result.

In the meantime, I'm fine with us avoiding that risk and just picking up a Rowell, Butters, or LDU.

They don't have the upside of Reid's potential, but you know what you're getting, and we're not in a position where we're required to take that unnecessary risk.

Not sure if anyone listened to Chris Scott's presser, but I love to hear him take the piss out of trade speculation this early in the season by saying most clubs will be into good players, then he specifically named Rowell, JUH, Bontempelli as three of interest to us 👀
Bit off topic but watching Voss struggle to say anything of substance in last nights post-game compared to hearing Chris talk today makes me realise how lucky we are as a club

Winning hides all manner of sins

No they are saying because Harley is dating duursmas sister.
