Yeah i guess we'll see from the push back the dogs give. I certainly thought at the time the way the stringer trade panned out the dogs couldn't have played it worse but in retrospect it definitely didn't burn you like i thought it would. I would think they're not mugs over there

Yeah a lot of Bulldogs fans fail to reevaluate things with the benefit of hindsight. They're set on that even after everything that has happened, we could have gotten more for Stringer. Ultimately there's a reason only one club was interested in the end. From memory even Geelong were keen on him early on but decided not to go there.

Anyway, with Jamarra, I'm hopeful we'll turn things around with him. In my uneducated opinion I think he's less unintelligent (ala Stringer) and more just someone who is very impressionable, we've just got to hope it's the mature heads like Bontempelli, Naughton and co that are the examples Jamarra follows and not the people he currently socializes with. Who knows though.

JUH was drafted to be a midfielder. Think about that. He could slot in anywhere.
He honestly reminds me of buddy. Who I always thought was most damaging up the field (even though he kicked 1000)

Such a shame that he's going through issues. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Funny how the AFL chaging the priority boundaries back when JUH was younger in an attempt, or a byproduct of the move, to keep us from getting him has actually blown up in their faces with JUH heading off footy by himself.

Should have stayed under the wing of GFC and Matty Stokes and this headline might read differently.

i know is a pipe dream but cadman contract is also expring at 2026 like JUH. i know who i be going for and they both will be expensive in terms of trade capital and salary.

I also thought it was just Mackie was asked if he is someone we would look at, Mack sat on the fence and gave a non committal answer and typical Jon Ralph style he is just running with it as we are interested

It’s my understanding (and I’m happy to be corrected) that Geelong lost the zone in the 90s and Jamarra was born in 2002. Whilst I can acknowledge it’s frustrating, I guess the rationale behind it is competition equalisation.

The unique nature of Geelongs geographic location means (and these are generalisations but I don’t think there’d be many that disagree):

Players are far less likely to leave the Cats for Victorian rivals.

Geelong players likely sign for less than an equivalent player at other Victorian clubs due to the overall lifestyle benefits.

If a player is from the wider Geelong area (or even from country Victoria in general) then Geelong will likely appeal to them far more if they wish to leave their club.

Those three points are often forgotten by the “hurhur cotton on” brigade, but ultimately your club for nearly two decades now has been the envy of the competition, meanwhile clubs that have been blessed with NGA, father sons and other quirky draft concessions haven’t really had such success.

Yeah i reckon Cats know he's got too much going on outside football to go there.

Reckon our targets will be mids, not forwards. We are stacked up forward.

Rowell and Butters as the most likely targets.
Reid as a fantasy dream scenario.

Call crazy on this one, but I'd prefer Butters over Reid. He'll probably be a great player but I'd go the cheaper option of Butters. Just think we'd be flirting with danger if we gave up too much for Harley.

It's actually not correct but we should continue to bother people with it because it's fun to do.

Stokes was mentoring him before the dogs academy picked him up. That's the size of it. It's in a "to the final bell" podcast with Lingy and Stokesy a few years ago. Fans misinterpreted it and we've been angry about something that didn't happen ever since.

I’m not asking is JUH confirmed to geelong, I’m asking if there is something to the rumours or talk. Most often there are a lot of articles and discussion a fair way out when a high profile player leaves, it doesn’t come out of nowhere. It was reported baz wanted out for ages before he announced it.

Asking fellow posters on what’s the news on x player wanting to geelong in the trade thread is a pretty standard thing
