Looks like you have it figured out mate.....
You must be one of the ones, that only cares about beating the Swampies and can handle us being a mediocre middle of the table team

Not at all.
I'm just looking at it logically, rather than with blinding rage for no apparent reason.

We werent going to overspend, and neither should we have.

So Reid just confirmed 2 first rounders plus was the demand from Carlton.

Silvani has just cut off Carlton's nose to spite their face. A first rounder and a second were on the table for a 28 year old to a club in rebuild phase.

In 6 months when they realise what they gave up to hold onto a guy who wants to leave, and we all know what Gibbs looks like when he can't be arsed... their supporters will stop licking Silvani's balls

No winners here

This is not going to end well for Carlton! If what I am hearing is true then we will be here again in 12 months time but I am certain 1st round pick is not going to be on the table.

Time to move on and concentrate on the draft and free agency period next year which seems to have been our plan all along.

That's what we always keep saying, 'just wait till next year, it will be huge' :(

Wouldn't be any strong 17-18 yo mids who can get 30 kicks and 10 tackles a game at Pick 13 would there?

Mate for crying out loud. None of those players are inside extractors. They may have more talent and they may outshine JL off of a forward flank but none of them are inside mids and nor would you want them to be.
We now have Matt Crouch and Scott Thompson to rely on.
Our entire gameplan is based around our ability to win it in close first. We don't have the speed or tackling power to play chasing football and we don't have the skill to play Keepies off football so we rely on winning the stoppage.
Look at how we have been cut to shreds when our inside mids have been out pointed in the past two season.

You can have all the talent, speed and skill in the world but it doesn't mean squat if you don't have guys who know how to get in and under and give us first use of the ball.

Uh we have Sloane, Crouch, Crouch on the mega inside. We should be worried about our midfield run far more.

You have 0 clue.

Its funny when you think about Curtly Hampton. We gave away what turned out to be pick 35 in this year's draft for a player who couldn't get a game in a shit team. Today we gave away a player who was playing well in a good team for even less.
you mean couldnt get a game in a team that played prelim? full of first round draft picks? sounds like Steele.

Exactly. 2 first rounders for a 28 year old is irresponsible list management - and if that deal had gone through you would've had the people saying the recruiting staff 'Fail with a capital F' and were 'humiliated' for not making a deal saying that 2 x first round picks would be a 'Fail with a capital F' and 'humiliated'.

You can't please some people. There would be posters on here ready to call this trade period a 'Fail with a capital F', 'humiliating' etc regardless of the deal/no deal done for Gibbs.

Happy we didn't cave in on Gibbs.

****ing ropeable we gave Lyons away for a handful of magic beans.
IMO Lyons leaving now paves the way for Beech to be upgraded and given an opportunity

Is Beech that much of a drop down to Lyons?

Won't help you now. You needed to act now in last trade period and this one. Last year, there was nothing you could do about it. This year you told the world that you want a premiership but you are not willing to do anything for it.
Why dont you trott back to your board and continue circle jerkin sos' cannoli.

I would have done the two firsts for gibbs and their next years second.

**** im so disappointed.

I agree that this deal should have been done.

Disappointing for both clubs that there was no trade as there was plenty of mutually beneficial combinations.

Sounds like we were stubborn.

Apparently Gibbs contract was heavily front ended which may have lead us to want more. Gibbs on 300k for 3 years is better than Gibbs on 650k for 3 years.

Can someone ban this muppet?

"not willing to do anything for it" or not willing to cave to SOS's entirely unreasonable demands of two firsts plus more?
