IMO, it's a no-brainer that they use every resource they can to 'surge' (a word that makes one sound like they are now part of a war op, and that those surging are unstoppable and immune from every doing anything wrong)

Ms Berejiklian this morning testified to the corruption watchdog that she was in a “close personal relationship” with Mr Maguire. “I can’t believe it,” he said. “I covered the Wagga by-election, at that time she condemned his behaviour, it seems she continue to see him and we didn’t even know she was seeing him for some time after this even though he was resigning over corruption allegations. “I regard Gladys Berejiklian as a clean politician but the judgement here is unbelievable."

The other question is - how do they hope to deal with the exponential increase in numbers of contacts - 10/20/100/1000 more contacts per person?

The UK uses an App for that (NHS Covid-19 app), that sends notifications to people to tell them to self-isolate for 14 days.

You'd hope that by now, greater Sydney Year 12s would be fighting over each other to get a Pfizer vaccination.

What a humungous gigantic tragic fail when our young are inclined to reject a life-saver because of the negligence of 'authorities' in the way they have managed the vaccination rollout and this whole pandemic.

I've just spent c.8 weeks in hospital and a rehab centre, and the number of (a) masks and (b) face shields staff and patients go through, all discarded after one use, just beggars belief.

I reckon ending capitalism and therefore crushing COVID is a more realistic solution than Gladys' current "toughest restrictions ever" allowing everyone to go shopping and exchange COVID strains.

Is the NSW Govt even trying to get the number of infected people down?

There just isn't enough vaccine right now to let it loose like NSW is doing.

As for vaccinations success diminishing over time, well by the time Australia has vaccination levels suitable to end lockdowns, it'll be late- winter in Europe and we'll know a lot more about boosters from what's happening in places like Israel/UK/France etc.

One thing which is certain and has been certain for over a year is that we need our own mRNA vaccine manufacturing (boosters forever?) and we need a Quarantine system which works and can process more people. At least now everyone recognises that vaccination is a race.

For now, the approach has to be eradication until vaccination rates reach 80% +
