The club was in a vulnerable position before the redevelopment and almost permanently relocated to Docklands. Its been a long road back, made more difficult by the AFL signing contracts with venues it cannot fulfill due to letting the Melb clubs sell off home games (contract is for 90 games at mcg and marvel, 45 each, yet only 88 home games played by Melb teams. Guess who cop the other 2). Until the hawks and north leave tassie, we wont get our 11 games in Geelong. This has been said before but I’m pretty certain the club elects to play two Melbourne games at the MCG.
It has been mentioned by Cookie and Hock many many times.
I’d also prefer all 11 in Geelong though (and I’m Melbourne based)
You might not like it but its the truth. Cooke was on the record back in 2013 saying a home game at KP back then made the club $750k after costs. That was when the club was pushing for the dogs to play games at KP. AFL said no and now they play in BallaratStill don’t think that’s correct. Sub 30k at Geelong wouldn’t bring in same ROI as 80k at MCG.
Anyway, we agree on the fundamental goal of getting home games in Geelong
