Haha “move along”.

I’m happy to just remind your victim complex mate that you get the rub of the green occasionally, just like everyone else does. Last I checked this was a forum which should welcome such contribution - not some Adelaide Crows specific fanboy site.
No victim complex at all. Every team has missed and bad calls,go for and against them, and everyone is aware of that. Just pointed out that the previous posters post and your own post about that Collingwood game were different. One was an admitted error, the other your opinion. That's all.

Essentially, he is inadvertently admitting that this could happen again and they (the AFL) are not going to look at ways of making sure it doesn't.

'Ho hum human error' is not good enough in the context of goal umpires. I can stomach that in context of field umpires who make hundreds of interpretations (under pressure) per game but not goal umpires who are essentially linesmen/women. Goal umpires don't make interpretations e.g. prior opportunity, they make yes/no calls. The AFL has to look at the system and how it can overrule goal ump * ups.

Gillon went the easy option.
It’s a mistake that should never happen. You have a review system, use it.

This is a goal umpire that has taken matters into his own hands when there was no need for it.

Sorry, but should never umpire at the level again.

The problem is, if we think this won't ever happen again we are kidding ourselves. Gillon even intimated it with his human error line.

God help the AFL if it happens in a GF.

It's interesting, they say the goal umpire was in the best position, but I feel being just behind the goals was actually a bad position to judge that as he wouldn't have properly seen the gap clearly. The initial decision is understandable, human error, but the decision not to review should be penalised. If he is stood down let's hope it sends a message to goal umps to always go to a review (which needs to also be improved) in these situations. Sucks for the Crows but at least its not a major final at least.

Goal umpire had a howler, but I'm not sure how many are acknowledging Sydney's gaming of the system.
Another umpire could have called for the ARC review that would have paid the goal, but Sydney got it it out immediately closed off any chance of that.
Very, very clever play by Sydney.
Correct, however the AFL should have seen this coming, should be able to call it back.

Am not convinced that a review would’ve been enough to overrule the goal umpires soft call of a behind

I have no problem with the goal umpire making the wrong call.

The issue is not calling for a review, when it’s clearly a close call and such a critical time of the game.

The decision not to review was negligent and unnecessary.

Gil was just shown on Fox footy making a statement that the behind decision would have been overruled on review

Gill stated the goal would've been overturned if it was sent for review.

Aren't we told every single game that every goal is reviewed, even if not sent for review??

So that's clearly a lie.
Goals yes. Behinds no

Bet you were last week! 🤣

He says that but the camera footage is so crap it may have been insufficient evidence to overturn it
