That's how I would've voted. Two huge contested mark and goals in the second half, hitouts, tackles, defensive spoils - it was the ultimate all round game. Best GF mark since 'Jesaulenko, you beauty!' too, just to top his game off.

I would have given it to Hayes just over Goddard tbh. Was the spark, tackling machine, good in clearances, kicked a huge goal and was the person who kicked it to Goddard for that mark. More consistent over the game. Taking nothing away from Goddard who was somehow everywhere at once at the end.

I was at the game and everyone around us thought Goddard was best on ground with daylight second. Everybody was shocked when he didn't get the medal. Maybe the TV showed more of Lenny's inside work.

Contested marks: Hayes 0 - Goddard 3, 2nd most on the ground
Goals: Hayes 1 - Goddard 2, equal most on the ground in a low scoring game
Clearances: 5 each, both equal 4th
Tackles: Hayes 12 (most on ground) - Goddard 5, but tackles at bounces and throw-ins that result in another bounce are overrated IMO
Disposals: Hayes 32 - Goddard 31, not including the dozen or so kick-ins by Goddard to get through the 20 man Collingwood forward press
Clangers: Hayes 3 - Goddard 5 (I assume this includes a couple of the kick-ins that went wrong)
Goddard was the standout onfield leader IMO. He put the fire back in the Saints bellies
